Summary: The Overnight Dorm Supervisor is a critical, dedicated security and supervisory role responsible for the health, safety, and well-being of all students (rising 7th – 9th graders) during nighttime hours. This position requires constant presence in the student dormitories and immediate availability to respond to student needs or emergencies after "lights out." The supervisor's time is highly restricted, requiring them to be present and available for the duration of their shift. Relationships: The Overnight Dorm Supervisor will primarily interact with the residential students in their assigned dormitory. They will report to the Director of Experiential Learning and must work closely with the Dean of Students and the designated Administrator On-Duty (AOD) to escalate security, health, or behavioral issues. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Specific responsibilities may include but are not limited to: • Shift Duration: The program runs from July 5 – July 29, with shifts generally running nightly from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM (shifts are subject to change based on program needs)., • Dormitory Presence (Standby Time): Residing in the designated dormitory for the full duration of the shift to oversee students, ensuring all are in their rooms after curfew and maintaining a quiet, safe environment., • Safety and Security Rounds: Conducting periodic, documented safety and security checks of the dormitory common areas, hallways, and exterior doors throughout the night., • First Responder: Serving as the immediate first responder to all student knocks, needs, or emergencies during the shift (e.g., illness, anxiety, minor conflicts)., • Emergency Escalation: Immediately notify the Administrator On-Duty (AOD) and/or appropriate emergency services for all security breaches, severe illness, or major incidents that require managerial intervention., • Administrative Tasks: Completing shift logs, incident reports, and communication notes for the daytime residential staff prior to the end of the shift., • Promotion of Values: Promoting the development of honor, character, and safety in all dealings with students, including enforcing school rules after hours., • Compensation: Compensation will be paid hourly for all hours required to be present in the dormitory, in accordance with California minimum wage and overtime laws., • Housing (when on shift) and meals (when the dining hall is open) will be provided in addition to wages earned. Overnight Dorm Supervisors have no supervisory responsibilities over other staff or Teaching Fellows.
