Job Description Quality Inspector Location: West TX (Midland/Odessa area) Employment Type: Full-Time, In-person Timing: Immediate Position Overview Gemma Power Systems is currently seeking a full-time Quality Inspector to join one of our project site teams out in the Permian Basin. This position reports to the Project Quality Manager and requires daily on-site attendance. We are looking for an individual with prior experience working Quality on simple-cycle, combined-cycle, or other large-scale thermal power projects. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for initiating site inspections and accepting and/or rejecting work performed by various disciplines in compliance with applicable codes and/or specifications. The Quality Inspector will also monitor the construction schedule and promote the implementation of QC policies & standards in the support of project activities. Primary Roles & Responsibilities • Implement & monitor the Field QC Manual and Construction Inspection & Test Plans in support of project requirements and construction schedules., • Assist the project superintendents and project team in adhering to and implementing all company quality policies., • Coordinate with engineers, suppliers, contractors, subcontractors, and field staff to ensure that the installed product meets applicable codes & specifications., • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates supplier and contractor activities, products, and reports for adherence to the project requirements. Monitors subcontractor quality personnel in the execution of their work., • Conducts quality inspections, including scheduling & coordination of Non-Destructive Testing, witnessing of tests, and review of testing by others (e.g. soil testing, concrete testing, hydrostatic testing, etc.). Prepares and/or reviews reports and quality records in compliance with procedures., • Verifies that on-site welding and welding documentation meets code & specification requirements, including review of third-party reports, NDE, and Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) documentation as applicable., • Performs receipt inspections of goods in conjunction with material control staff, as required., • Identifies non-conformances and participates in corrective actions., • Reviews & controls the documentation for the certification of construction equipment and testing equipment., • Assists in the coordination of punch list walk downs/inspections. Desired Experience & Qualifications • High School Diploma, GED, or geographical equivalent qualification is required. Degree in Engineering or Construction-related discipline or craft apprenticeship is preferred., • Minimum 1-2 years of experience working in heavy industrial construction environments that include civil, piping and mechanical disciplines., • Current CWI / SCWI certification is preferred., • Strong knowledge of quality standards and best practices., • Able to read & understand erection drawings (e.g. GA’s, P&ID’s, Isometrics) at a basic level, at minimum., • Knowledge of essential national & international codes, standards, rules, and regulatory requirements., • Intermediate computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook., • Prior experience working with construction technology and/or within the EPC industry is a plus., • Familiarity with both constructability and quality management systems is preferred., • Relentless dedication to both quality & safety., • Formidable problem-solving & analytical skills., • Exceptional verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills., • Able to work productively both independently and when collaborating with others., • Must be comfortable with frequently standing or moving around a heavy construction environment., • Exposure to loud noise, rugged or uneven environments, and varying weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold., • Ability to perform repetitive movements, including reaching, grasping, and working overhead., • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and twist., • Ability to sit, climb and balance., • Ability to frequently lift and/or push or pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or push or pull up to 50 pounds., • Possesses adequate vision to perform all required tasks., • Ability to move in & around confined and cluttered places and uneven areas., • Advancement and Growth Opportunities, • Paid Time Off (PTO), • Comprehensive Nationwide Health and Welfare Benefits, • Company-Sponsored Events, • Financial Planning and Savings Resources, • 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, • Paid Holidays Gemma Power Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Argan Inc.
