Job DescriptionJob Title: Material HandlerJob Description The primary role of a Material Handler is to efficiently manage the receiving, storing, and issuing of materials, equipment, and other items from stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards. Responsibilities • Receive and count stock items, recording data manually or using computer systems., • Pack and unpack items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards., • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors., • Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas., • Label stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment., • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations., • Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment., • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors., • Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers.Essential Skills, • Excellent verbal and written communication skills., • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities., • Ability to work as a team player with keen attention to detail., • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies for effective security operations to protect people, data, property, and institutions.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • High school diploma or GED required., • 0-2 years of relevant experience., • Proficiency in forklift driving, inventory accuracy, offloading, putaway, and truck loading., • Ability to communicate effectively in English., • Proven ability to follow instructions and maintain housekeeping standards., • Strong multitasking skills.Why Work Here? The role requires a focus on safety and efficiency, utilizing modern equipment and technology to streamline operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
