Position Summary The Corporate Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all payroll operations for a multi-state automobile dealership group. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across multiple entities, pay plans, and jurisdictions, while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local labor and tax regulations. The position partners closely with HR, Accounting, and dealership leadership to support employees, improve payroll processes, and mitigate risk. Key Responsibilities Payroll Operations • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for multiple dealership locations across several states., • Manage complex automotive pay plans, including commissions, spiffs, bonuses, draws, flat-rate technicians, and hourly and salaried employees., • Ensure accurate processing of new hires, terminations, promotions, and pay changes., • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, including wage and hour laws, overtime, minimum wage, and paid leave requirements., • Monitor multi-state tax regulations, garnishments, child support orders, and other withholdings., • Coordinate payroll tax filings, W-2s, and year-end reporting., • Administer payroll systems and timekeeping platforms, with a strong preference for Netchex and CDK (or comparable systems such as ADP, Paaycom, Paylocity, UKG, or Reynolds & Reynolds)., • Develop, document, and maintain payroll policies and procedures., • Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and process improvement., • Lead, train, and mentor payroll staff (if applicable), • Serve as the primary payroll contact for dealership management and corporate leadership., • Partner with HR on benefits deductions, leave administration, and employee inquiries., • Respond to employee payroll questions professionally and confidentially., • Ensure accurate and timely distribution of pay statements and tax documents. Qualifications Education & Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred., • 5+ years of payroll management experience, preferably in a multi-state environment., • Strong understanding of multi-state payroll laws and regulations., • Experience with complex commission-based compensation structures., • Proficiency in payroll and HRIS systems., • Advanced Excel and reporting skills., • High attention to detail and strong analytical abilities., • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills., • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional)., • Onsite office environment., • Periodic travel to dealership locations may be required., • Must meet strict payroll deadlines and manage peak workloads during payroll cycles and year-end.
