Responsibilities Reporting to the Director of Operations/Kitchen Supervisor, the Cook works independently and/or in a team to prepare monthly food menus, cook food, serve meals, and keep the kitchen area clean and neat. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Cook's duties include: • Prepare and serve meals for the shift. Prepare and schedule meal planning for other shifts when other staffers are present., • Plan menus and run a monthly client food committee., • Wash all dishes immediately following meals when present., • Prepare the kitchen for other meals., • Advise the Director of Operations of kitchen needs and order supplies for the kitchen, including food and utensils, as needed., • Thoroughly clean the entire work area after each meal, including the sink, stove, and countertops., • Record meal counts and submit monthly statistics to the Director of Operations., • Attend staff meetings and training as scheduled., • Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is preferred., • NYS Food Handlers Certificate or equivalent is required., • CPR, First aid are required within 3 months of hire., • AED preferred., • Completion of recent PPD Test within one year of employment and annually thereafter is required., • A minimum of one year of experience in food preparation for a residential population of at least 50 is preferred., • Knowledge of food and nutrition., • Experience with the homeless, persons living with a mental health condition, and substance abuse populations is preferred., • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Outlook, etc.) are a plus., • Basic written and verbal communication skills., • Foreign languages are a plus.
