Position Overview The Intermittent Operations Maintenance & Facilities Support Technician supports Beta Academy’s operational needs by providing on-call, short-term, and project-based assistance with facility repairs, maintenance tasks, campus operations, and general support needs. This role ensures that school environments remain safe, clean, functional, and welcoming for scholars, staff, and families. The ideal candidate is skilled, self-directed, safety-focused, reliable, and comfortable responding to a variety of maintenance and operational needs across the district. Department: Operations / Facilities Reports To: Chief Business Officer / Director of Operations Schedule: Intermittent / As-Needed FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Essential Duties & Responsibilities Maintenance, Repairs & Inspections • Perform a wide range of routine and emergency maintenance tasks, including restroom repairs, wall repairs, basic carpentry, door hardware adjustments, and furniture repairs., • Conduct routine roof inspections, checking for leaks, drainage issues, debris accumulation, and visible deterioration; report findings and support follow-up repairs., • Inspect and maintain pipe supports, plumbing fixtures, and exposed piping to ensure proper functionality and safety., • Repair, reinforce, or replace fencing, gates, and perimeter structures to maintain campus safety and security., • Address minor electrical issues, such as replacing bulbs, ballasts, outlet covers, and conducting basic troubleshooting., • Perform minor patching, painting, sealing, caulking, and other surface restoration throughout classrooms, halls, offices, and common areas., • Assist with grounds-related repairs, including walkway touch-ups, landscape support, irrigation troubleshooting, maintenance of play spaces, curbs, power washing, and parking lot striping and repainting., • Support junk/debris haul-off, including safe removal, disposal, and organization of stored or discarded materials., • Identify and report maintenance needs, safety hazards, and operational concerns across district campuses., • Assist with basic shuttle bus maintenance and upkeep (cleaning, minor tasks, coordination for service)., • Safely move, assemble, disassemble, relocate, and organize furniture, fixtures, instructional materials, equipment, and stored assets., • Assist with maintaining exterior areas, including sidewalks, play spaces, parking lots, outdoor learning areas, and campus entryways., • Identify and respond to hazards such as uneven surfaces, loose fencing, water intrusion, or trip hazards; perform corrective action when appropriate., • Assist with inventory and asset management, including movement, organization, and basic documentation of district assets., • Maintain familiarity with vendor contracts (groundskeeping, HVAC, janitorial services) and assist with monitoring performance and reporting concerns., • Follow all school safety procedures and OSHA-aligned protocols at all times., • Safely use ladders—including roof-access ladders—and operate tools and equipment while adhering to fall-prevention and ladder-safety guidelines., • Demonstrate proper lifting techniques and safely handle items weighing up to 75 lbs., • Immediately report unsafe conditions, facility hazards, or equipment issues., • Maintain tools, materials, storage areas, vehicles, and workspaces in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Qualifications • Experience in maintenance, facilities, custodial, or related work preferred., • Ability to perform basic repairs and safely use common hand and power tools., • Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 75 lbs safely., • Ability to climb ladders, including roof-access ladders, and work safely at heights., • Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, reaching, standing for extended periods, and working indoors/outdoors in various weather conditions., • Strong work ethic, dependability, and customer service orientation., • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and communicate effectively., • Comfort working in a PK–12 school environment.
