Job Description Job Title: Mechanical Assembler Job Description This role involves assembling a wide variety of precision sheet metal products in a dynamic job shop environment that serves industries such as medical, aerospace, electronics, and commercial equipment. You will use hand, power, air, and pneumatic tools to assemble, rivet, and occasionally wire mechanical and electro-mechanical components, working both independently and as part of a collaborative team. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, safety-focused production setting. Responsibilities • Assemble a variety of sheet metal products and components for diverse applications, including commercial equipment, cash handling devices, and products for medical, aerospace, and electronic industries., • Use rivet guns, hand tools, power tools, air tools, and pneumatic tools to install nuts, bolts, and other fasteners on sheet metal products., • Read and interpret basic blueprints, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to perform accurate mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies., • Perform basic low-voltage wiring and electrical assembly on products and control panels when required., • Measure and verify components using tools such as tape measures to ensure adherence to tight tolerances and precision sheet metal specifications., • Perform packaging, wrapping, and palletizing of finished products to prepare them for shipment., • Work with precision, tight-tolerance sheet metal while maintaining high quality and consistency in all assemblies., • Operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-demand production environment and meet specific daily volume and speed targets., • Adapt to frequently changing projects, products, and priorities in a job shop environment., • Work both in a team environment and independently, supporting a flexible, team-first mentality., • Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all shop safety procedures and guidelines., • Lift and move materials and products weighing 50 pounds or more as part of daily tasks., • Demonstrate reliable attendance, punctuality, and a strong work ethic, consistently arriving early and prepared to work. Essential Skills • Minimum 1+ year of mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly experience (including experience as a mechanical assembler, tire technician, mechanic, construction worker, or similar mechanical role)., • Strong mechanical aptitude, whether gained through professional experience, farm or field work, or hobby mechanics., • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, assembly drawings, and basic schematics., • Hands-on experience working with hand tools, power tools, air tools, and rivet tools., • Ability to perform basic measurements using tools such as tape measures with strong attention to detail., • Capability to lift and carry 50+ pounds consistently throughout the shift., • Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced production or manufacturing environment., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work., • Reliable work history with consistent attendance and a willingness to show up early and stay as needed., • Team-oriented mindset with flexibility to adjust to changing tasks, projects, and priorities., • Comfort working with precision sheet metal components and tight tolerances. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Wiring experience, including basic low-voltage electrical wiring and electrical assembly, is a significant plus., • Experience working with schematic diagrams and basic electrical layouts is beneficial., • Experience in general labor, construction, or related trades that involve mechanical or tool-based work., • Experience with soldering is an advantage for certain assemblies., • Familiarity with control panel assembly is helpful., • Exposure to production environments that require meeting defined output and speed targets., • Comfort using pneumatic tools and drills in a manufacturing setting., • Ability to learn and follow new blueprints and SOPs as products and projects change., • Demonstrated safety awareness and adherence to safety procedures in previous roles., • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a diverse team. Work Environment The work environment is a fast-paced, high-demand job shop where daily and weekly tasks can change based on customer orders and project requirements. You will work in one of the shifts between early morning and late afternoon (for example, 4:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m., 5:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., or 7:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday), with the ability to choose a schedule that best fits your needs. Overtime may be required on Fridays or Saturdays, and flexibility to support production demands is expected. The facility is an extremely clean, organized, and modern sheet metal shop with newer machines and a strong emphasis on safety. The shop is temperature controlled, with air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter, providing a comfortable working environment year-round. You will regularly use hand tools, power tools, air tools, pneumatic tools, rivet guns, measuring devices, and other standard production equipment while working with precision sheet metal components under clearly defined safety and operational procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of White Bear Lake, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
