Job DescriptionJob Title: Facilities Engineering Technician Job Description The Facilities Engineering Technician plays a key role in maintaining a state-of-the-art lentiviral vector manufacturing facility by performing corrective and preventative maintenance on building systems and laboratory equipment. This position ensures reliable operation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems while maintaining strict cGMP and FDA compliance through accurate documentation in a CMMS. The technician troubleshoots complex facility issues, supports off-hours emergency repairs, and oversees external vendors to ensure high-quality work and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. This is a hands-on, on-site role within a high-tech, mission-driven biotechnology environment. Responsibilities • Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on building systems and laboratory equipment to ensure safe and reliable facility operations., • Inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems on a daily basis to minimize downtime and support uninterrupted operations., • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues across the facility and implement effective solutions., • Work hands-on with motors, pumps, chillers, boilers, and laboratory equipment such as autoclaves and cryogenic units to keep equipment in optimal condition., • Maintain accurate and timely GMP documentation of all maintenance activities using CMMS software, preferably Blue Mountain, in alignment with FDA and cGMP standards., • Operate, monitor, and adjust building automation systems, including BMS, EMS, and PLCs, to maintain proper environmental and process conditions., • Support off-hours emergency repairs and participate in on-call duties to address urgent facility issues and maintain operational continuity., • Supervise and coordinate external vendors and third-party contractors, ensuring work quality, adherence to safety procedures, and compliance with regulatory requirements., • Inspect completed vendor work to verify that it meets technical specifications, safety standards, and facility expectations., • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing and laboratory environment to support production needs and facility improvements., • Follow cGMP and FDA regulatory requirements in all maintenance activities to support a compliant and audit-ready facility., • Adhere to safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment, and contribute to a safe working environment for all personnel.Essential Skills, • At least 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or facilities engineering roles, preferably within regulated or manufacturing environments., • Associate’s degree in a relevant technical field or closely related discipline., • Strong hands-on experience with chemical manufacturing equipment in an industrial or laboratory setting., • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems, including motors, pumps, chillers, and boilers., • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including facility power distribution and equipment-level components., • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair plumbing systems in a commercial or industrial facility., • Proven ability to troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems used in manufacturing or laboratory operations., • Experience performing daily inspection, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems to support controlled environments., • Familiarity with GMP environments and FDA regulations, including working under cGMP guidelines., • Experience maintaining cGMP-compliant documentation of maintenance activities using CMMS software., • Ability to operate and monitor building automation systems such as BMS, EMS, and PLCs., • Strong understanding of facilities engineering principles, including mechanical, electrical, and building systems., • Ability to coordinate and supervise external vendors and contractors while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance., • Capability to support off-hours emergency repairs and participate in on-call rotations as needed., • Physical ability to perform job duties, including standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 30 pounds., • Commitment to working safely and consistently using required personal protective equipment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience working in biopharma, biotechnology, or cell and gene therapy facilities., • Experience in facilities that operate under strict cGMP guidelines and FDA oversight., • Hands-on experience with building automation systems beyond basic operation, including configuration or optimization., • Familiarity with Blue Mountain CMMS software for maintenance tracking and documentation., • CFC refrigerant license or equivalent certification related to HVAC and refrigeration systems., • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for maintaining accurate records and documentation., • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment., • Solution-oriented mindset with a focus on accountability and continuous improvement., • Interest in contributing to mission-driven work supporting advanced therapeutic manufacturing.Work Environment The Facilities Engineering Technician works on-site in a state-of-the-art lentiviral vector manufacturing facility located in Louisville, Colorado. This is a fully on-site, hands-on role that requires daily presence in a high-tech, cGMP-compliant environment. The facility operates under strict cGMP and FDA guidelines, with high standards for safety, quality, and documentation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Louisville, CO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.64 - $40.34/hr.
