Job DescriptionJob Title: MIG Welder Job Description This role focuses on MIG welding, fabrication, and finishing steel storage and shipping containers in a high-volume production environment. You will work on first shift and use GMAW processes to fabricate, repair, and finish containers as they move through production on an automated conveyor system. Responsibilities • Perform MIG welding using the GMAW process, including stitch welding and full welding of components and assemblies in flat, vertical, and overhead positions., • Fabricate and repair steel storage and shipping containers as they move through multiple production departments on an automated conveyor system., • Read and interpret basic prints and blueprints to determine welding, fabrication, and assembly requirements., • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to welding using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, rulers, and other measuring tools., • Lay out and measure dimensions and reference lines on material according to drawings or templates using calculators, scribes, dividers, squares, and rulers., • Use and recognize proper setup of basic hand and power tools common to the welding trade, including grinders, shears, hammers, punches, drills, and welding equipment., • Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials., • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding., • Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded to complete electrical circuits safely and effectively., • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts to prepare them for final welding or assembly., • Drill and punch holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets to fabricate or alter parts as required., • Fasten seams and joints together with welds, bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, metal drive clips, and bonding materials to assemble products or repair sheet metal components., • Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces, seams, and joints of assembled parts using hand and portable power tools to achieve required finishes., • Use oxy/acetylene and plasma cutting equipment when needed to support fabrication and repair work., • Accurately read and use a tape measure to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet specifications., • Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working in a production welding environment.Essential Skills, • Approximately 5 years of hands-on MIG welding experience in a production or fabrication environment., • Proficiency in GMAW (MIG) welding, including stitch welding and full welds in flat, vertical, and overhead positions., • Ability to pass an AWS 4G welding test., • Ability to read and interpret basic prints and blueprints., • Strong ability to read and use a tape measure accurately., • Experience using basic hand tools and power tools such as grinders, shears, hammers, punches, and drills., • Ability to recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, including shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment., • Ability to lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies using standard measuring and layout tools., • Experience monitoring welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials., • Capability to operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment using multiple welding processes, including gas metal arc and related methods., • Strong attention to detail in trimming, grinding, deburring, and finishing welded assemblies., • Ability to safely ignite torches and start welding power supplies and maintain proper welding techniques.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Knowledge of oxy/acetylene and plasma cutter operation., • Experience working with steel fabrication, structural welding, and production welding., • Experience reading and working directly from detailed blueprints in a production setting., • Familiarity with drilling and punching holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets to fabricate or modify parts., • Experience fastening seams and joints using welds, bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, metal drive clips, and bonding agents., • Ability to clamp, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts during assembly., • Comfort working with various welding processes such as gas tungsten arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding., • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with automated conveyor-based production systems.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a production welding environment focused on steel container fabrication and repair. The facility is clean, well lit, and designed with safety as a priority. The work area is non-climate controlled but described as very comfortable for production welding activities. You will work on first shift, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., operating manual and semi-automatic welding equipment, hand tools, and power tools around an automated conveyor system that moves containers through multiple departments. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cinnaminson, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
