Job DescriptionJob Title: Mechanic Job Description This role focuses on assembling and building concrete pumping equipment, including trucks and trailers, using mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical skills. You will read and interpret blueprints and schematics, perform a variety of mechanical assembly duties on both standard and prototype units, and use hand and power tools to build each unit to precise specifications. The position involves working with heavy mechanical equipment and components, following detailed engineering documentation, and ensuring that all completed units meet quality and safety standards. Responsibilities • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, bills of materials, and work instructions from the computer-based Build Book program to determine assembly requirements., • Assemble components for concrete pump trucks and trailers according to engineering prints on a job-by-job basis, ensuring accuracy and consistency., • Request and coordinate parts with the Parts Department as required to complete each assembly project on schedule., • Lay out truck details and sub-assemblies per engineering prints, including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components., • Perform mechanical assembly duties on standard production units as well as prototype units, using appropriate hand and power tools., • Prepare trucks for sub-frame assembly by disassembling, measuring, repositioning parts, installing components, and reassembling units following established procedures., • Install hydraulic lines, brake lines, and related chassis components, and fill systems with oil or other fluids in preparation for required testing., • Perform final assembly of all units, including installation of hoods, electrical components, lighting, decals, and other customer-specific items., • Test assembled parts, systems, and completed units to verify proper function, quality, and adherence to specifications., • Navigate and use computers at workstations to access parts ordering systems, blueprints, and build instructions., • Comply with workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and procedures at all times., • Maintain tools, equipment, and the work area in clean, organized, and good working condition., • Work collaboratively with other mechanics, weld, paint, and warehouse teams to support smooth production flow., • Perform reasonably similar or related mechanical assembly duties as assigned to support production needs.Essential Skills, • Hands-on mechanical experience with heavy mechanical equipment or vehicles., • Proven experience with hydraulics, including installation and routing of hydraulic lines., • Experience with brake line and chassis work on trucks or similar equipment., • Ability to read, understand, and work from blueprints and the willingness to further learn blueprints and schematics., • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively for mechanical assembly., • Basic electrical familiarity related to vehicle or equipment assembly, such as wiring and lights., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis., • Basic math skills to support measuring, layout, and assembly tasks., • Comfort working around large mechanical equipment and overhead cranes., • Ability and willingness to work overtime when needed to meet production demands., • Capability to navigate and use a computer at the workstation for parts ordering and blueprint access., • Ownership of a personal set of basic mechanic tools suitable for assembly work., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and precision in assembly work., • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established procedures accurately.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Previous experience building or assembling trucks, trailers, or similar heavy equipment., • Experience working with overhead cranes in a manufacturing or assembly environment., • Mechanical aptitude and a strong interest in hydraulics, electrical systems, and machine building., • Comfort working in a louder, active production environment with large booms and heavy components., • Interest in pursuing a technical degree related to mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical systems, supported by tuition assistance after going direct., • Desire to learn multiple areas of production through cross-training, such as assembly, sub-assembly, or related operations., • Reliability, consistent attendance, and strong work ethic to support long-term career growth.Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a first-shift position with typical hours from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Work takes place in a large, clean manufacturing campus consisting of multiple buildings and an outdoor yard between them. The primary work area is a new-vehicle build facility with multiple assembly bays, each equipped with a computer workstation used for parts ordering and accessing blueprints and build instructions. You will work around large booms, overhead cranes, and heavy equipment in a louder but well-organized production environment focused on new manufacturing rather than service work. The broader site includes weld, paint, and warehouse operations, and you may walk between buildings through the yard as needed. You will work alongside approximately 35–40 mechanics in the area, using hand and power tools and your own mechanic tools to complete daily tasks. Attire should be appropriate for a hands-on manufacturing setting, suitable for working with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components in an active shop environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of White Bear Lake, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
