Job Description For the 2026-2027 School YearTITLE: Substitute Aide / AssociateJOB SUMMARY: Assist teachers in the instruction, supervision and care of students with disabilities in a variety of instructional settings, including special education, general education and work/community settings in order to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school, and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child on an as needed basis.QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience working with children preferred but not requiredPost-secondary coursework in educational field preferred but not requiredInitiative to be a self-starterIntuitive to the needs of the studentAbility to work well with classroom teacher, support staff, administrators, AEA and parents of student as part of an educational teamAbility to be flexible in assignment givenAbility to use good judgment when unexpected problems ariseAbility to use office equipmentMay be assigned other related duties in addition to those listed aboveSPECIFIC DUTIES:Any or all of the following duties may apply to a specific associate position, depending on the needs of the student and the operation of the educational setting.Attend work on a prompt and regular basisMaintain confidentialityMaintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employeesAssist classroom teacher with educational activitiesTake directions from teachers, building administratorsFollow behavior management plans for individual studentsMaintain students' daily behavior logsAssist in the implementation and monitoring of students' Individual Education PlansPrepare and organize instructional materials and equipmentPerform personal care duties for students with disabilities as neededPrepare and supervise students in bus loading/unloading. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching students with diverse learning needs, particularly within neurodiverse populations (e.g., ADHD, dyslexia, Funtional Autism).
