Job Description POSITION OVERVIEW We seek to grow the number of outstanding educators in our schools through the Baker Teaching Fellowship program, named after KIPP Jacksonville’s founding board chairman, John D. Baker II. The Fellowship provides focused development, support, and structure to individuals launching a career in urban public education. This program is ideal for those graduating from an education preparation program, an alternative certification program, or for those who have passed a Florida subject area certification exam. Under the direction of our fellowship manager and school leaders, fellows are placed as co-teachers during their fellowship year and are certified teachers in our classrooms. As certified educators, fellows are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing our curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their school leader. The Fellowship model allows fellows to co-teach in their fellowship year with a gradual release model. Fellows are placed strategically in one grade level and have meaningful ‘at-bats’ at instructional practices, whole and small group instruction, and managing a classroom. Fellows take on additional responsibilities as the year progresses. Fellows are supported as both individuals and as a cohort through frequent coaching and professional development sessions. Job Description KIPP Jacksonville aims to have a strong teacher talent pipeline and will work with any paraprofessionals who are interested in pursuing teacher certification to transition to instructional roles the following school year. POSITION SUMMARY KIPP Jacksonville seeks paraprofessionals to support our primary K-2 classrooms and our 3rd English/Reading classrooms. The paraprofessional will be assigned one classroom and will support students alongside a lead teacher, the grade level team, and the ELA department. Paraprofessionals support the teacher during the regular school day and are under the direct supervision of a classroom teacher. Paraprofessionals will conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher to support students in small groups and assist with the preparation and/or implementation of differentiated instruction. Paraprofessionals will support the classroom by helping students with morning/arrival routines or dismissal routines, transitioning and supervising students at lunch or recess, and prepping materials used for instruction in the classroom.
