Job Description Job Summary - Account Manager (Outside Sales) - Building Automation Location: Milwaukee, WI Job Type: Full-Time Company is a premier distributor and solutions provider in the Building Automation and Energy Management industry, partnering with leading manufacturers to deliver innovative solutions that power smarter, safer, and more efficient buildings. We work closely with mechanical, electrical, and controls contractors, engineers, and integrators on complex commercial building projects, offering a full portfolio of HVAC controls, gas detection systems, access control, lighting solutions, IoT technologies, and analytics tools. We are seeking a highly motivated Account Manager - Outside Sales to drive business growth and build lasting customer relationships in the Milwaukee market. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge and consultative sales expertise, with a proven ability to manage a sales territory, expand market share, and deliver value-added solutions in the building automation and commercial construction space. Key Responsibilities * Sales Growth & Territory Development: Manage a defined territory, achieve/exceed revenue and gross profit targets, and expand market presence through disciplined pipeline development. * Customer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, consulting engineers, and integrators while understanding their project needs and aligning company solutions to deliver measurable ROI. * Business Development: Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities; prospect regularly to expand the customer base. * Consultative Solution Selling: Present the full portfolio of products and services, positioning Company as a trusted partner in building automation and smart building technologies. * Proposal & Specification Support: Collaborate with consulting engineers to influence system design specifications and enhance Company's inclusion in project bids. * CRM & Reporting: Leverage HubSpot CRM and ERP systems to manage pipeline, track progress, and maintain account plans. * Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the Technical Solutions Group, product experts, and internal teams to provide technical support, project training, and superior client outcomes. * Industry Presence: Represent Company at trade shows, industry events, and networking functions to build visibility and strengthen customer relationships. * Travel: Conduct regular client visits within the assigned region (mid-to-heavy travel expected). Qualifications Required: * 3+ years of successful sales experience in HVAC, Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS), IoT, or related technical industries. * Strong understanding of commercial contractor channels, MEP systems, and specification-driven sales processes. * Demonstrated track record of territory management, pipeline growth, and consistent quota achievement. * Proficiency with CRM systems (HubSpot preferred), ERP platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite. * Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. * Valid driver's license and liability insurance; willingness to travel extensively within the Dallas/Ft. Worth region. Preferred: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related technical field. * Direct experience with BAS products, low-voltage controls, smart building solutions, or energy management technologies. * Prior experience influencing system design and collaborating with consulting engineers.
