Annually, Hope Christian School educates approximately 1,400 students from Preschool through 12th grade. School Year 2026-2027 Job Summary: The High School English Teacher is responsible for creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment for high school students. The teacher will develop lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, utilize diverse instructional strategies, and assess student progress while providing professional instruction grounded in Biblical principles and a Christian worldview. In addition to delivering rigorous instruction in literature, writing, grammar, and communication skills, the teacher will foster students’ critical thinking, creativity, and spiritual growth. The teacher will contribute to a positive school culture and collaborate with staff, parents, and administrators to support student success. Instructional Responsibilities • Plan, develop, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards in areas such as American Literature, British Literature, World Literature, composition, grammar, vocabulary, and speech., • Integrate reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical analysis skills across instruction., • Use a variety of instructional strategies and resources to meet the diverse needs of students., • Encourage thoughtful discussion, literary analysis, and student participation., • Assess student performance using formal and informal assessments (essays, research papers, projects, presentations, quizzes, exams) to monitor progress and adjust teaching methods as necessary., • Establish and maintain clear expectations for behavior, creating a respectful, safe, and positive learning environment., • Implement strategies to manage classroom behavior effectively, ensuring a productive classroom environment for all students., • Promote a culture of respect, collaboration, and academic integrity., • Provide academic support and mentorship to students, helping them set goals and develop strong reading, writing, and study habits., • Recognize and celebrate student achievements, both academically and personally., • Identify students needing additional help and provide extra support or refer them to appropriate resources such as tutoring or counseling services., • Guide students in developing essential skills including time management, collaboration, communication, research, and critical thinking., • Collaborate with colleagues in subject-specific teams, interdisciplinary groups, and school-wide committees to ensure a consistent and integrated learning experience for all students., • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, achievements, and concerns through conferences, phone calls, and email., • Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education into literature and writing instruction., • Select and evaluate instructional materials that align with school standards and Christian values., • Stay current with developments in English education, literacy instruction, educational research, and best practices., • Participate in professional development activities including workshops, conferences, and in-service training., • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and assessments., • Prepare and submit progress reports and required documentation in a timely manner as directed by the High School Principal., • Participate in school meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and extracurricular activities as needed., • Follow all school policies and procedures, including those related to safety and discipline.Requirements:, • Have received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and reflect the purpose of the school, which is to honor Christ., • Cooperate and comply with the school administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing school operations., • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred., • Required: New Mexico state teaching credential, ACSI certification, or ACTS certification acceptable at a minimum for 2 years., • Demonstrated experience teaching high school English courses such as American Literature, British Literature, World Literature, Composition, and/or Advanced Placement or Dual Credit courses preferred., • Experience working with high school students in an educational setting., • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills., • Ability to create a positive and engaging classroom environment., • 95% paid medical premiums, 100% paid dental, vision premiums for full-time employees., • Medical cost-savings: Health Reimbursement Arrangement, • 100% Employer paid Basic Life, • 403(b) Employer match dollar-for-dollar up to 4% income, 800+ investment options, • Life Insurance and AD&D
