Job DescriptionSalary: Commensurate with Experience and Education Level Exceptional Childrens Lab Extensions Teacher, Charlotte Lab School | 2023-2024 Job Posting Date: Ongoing Application Closing Date: Upon Filling the Position Hours: Full-Time Start Date: August 11, 2025 Contract End Date: June 13, 2026 Responsibilities The Charlotte Lab School Exceptional Children's Lab Contained Teacher will have responsibilities in a self contained classroom, primarily with students who identify on the autism spectrum, in support of Labs instructional vision: • Create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), • Maintain Individualized Education Plans in conjunction with state and federal requirements, • Hold annual meetings with families to provide progress updates, • Complete progress reports quarterly based on specific student goals, • Complies with timelines and regulations as outlined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), • Obtains and maintains compliant special education files, • Deliver specialized instruction to students on his/her caseload, • Develop lesson plans based on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), • Deliver student instruction in modalities instituted by the school and assigned program in both pull-out and inclusion settings that is data-driven, • Facilitate interdisciplinary instruction of challenge-based curriculum aligned with Labs Quest model, • Use flexible grouping and scheduling, • Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff, • Provides assistance in developing and adapting curriculum materials to meet the needs of student and teachers, • Maintains communication with related service providers and case managers to ensure compliance with the provision of services, evaluations and progress reports, • Participate in weekly team meetings, • Analyze data and reports to guide goal setting and instructional planning, • Monitor student progress through a variety of tools and portfolios, • Provide necessary supports to aid instruction in the general education setting, • Proctor standardized tests, • Communicate frequently and regularly with families of students, for both academic and behavior-related reasons, both positive and when needing assistance;, • Participate actively in Labs community activities, in support of Labs instructional, community-building, fundraising, family recruitment, and hiring efforts;, • Participate actively in ongoing professional development and teacher evaluation process;, • Supervise students and maintain a clean, orderly, safe, print-rich and positive classroom learning environment;, • Take on other responsibilities as needed, and as assigned, to ensure student and school success. The Charlotte Lab School Lower School Teacher will also have responsibilities in support of Labs vision for students social-emotional learning: • Serve as an advisor to a small group of students; in this role:, • Deliver a social-emotional skills curriculum;, • Develop deep relationships with students in your advisory;, • Develop and implement activities to build community within the advisory;, • Serve as an advocate for advisees, for both academic and disciplinary reasons;, • Provide regular updates and communication with advisees families;, • Guide advisees in the preparation of their Student-Led Conferences each trimester;, • Operate as liaison between advisees families and the school. Compensation Charlotte Lab School offers competitive compensation commensurate with experience and education level using our compensation rubric. All salaries are determined pending verification of experience by our Finance/HR divisions and Board of Directors budget approval. Please note the following regarding use of the rubric: • Assistant, instructional, dean and director salaries (Grades 1-4) are determined based on 1 year credit for 1 year of teaching and/or other relevant experience. Increased pay for advanced degrees (which may include specialized leadership programs or certifications) is indicated above and paid on the basis on completion of qualifying programs.
