Job DescriptionGeneral Utility Worker - $18/HR Location: Davenport, Iowa Employment Type: Full-Time Shift: 7AM-3:30PM Industry: Food Production / Manufacturing Job Description The General Utility Worker position is an entry-level role within the production environment, performing a variety of essential labor tasks that support daily operations. This role contributes to meat processing production by adhering to company policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) procedures. The position is responsible for maintaining sanitary production areas, ensuring product integrity, and assisting with equipment setup, operations, and sanitation. Key Responsibilities • Maintain all production areas in a clean and sanitary condition., • Promptly report any issues that could lead to unsanitary conditions., • Remove product, debris, and packing materials from the floor., • Properly dispose of and track inedible products., • Separate and remove trash and recycling from production areas., • Stage production lines with empty containers for the next shift., • Assist in preparing, assembling, and disassembling equipment for processing or sanitation., • Properly identify, store, and manage rework to prevent cross-contamination., • Fill in for co-workers during breaks, possibly assisting in other roles., • Accurately complete required production paperwork., • Assist in training new employees., • Check in with the supervisor for additional tasks before leaving the shift., • Perform visual inspections of cases to confirm proper labeling and legibility., • Make simple machine adjustments to maintain smooth production flow., • Operate a manual hand jack as needed., • Report equipment malfunctions immediately., • Prepare workstations and supplies for the next shift., • Stage ingredients in 50 lb containers to support production flow., • Arrange and handle meat according to specifications., • Continuously comb, hang, transport, and stack products., • Inspect product quality on conveyor belts., • Complete tasks accurately, safely, and efficiently.Essential Skills, • Strong dependability and attention to detail., • Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision., • Effective verbal and written communication skills., • Willingness to work weekends and overtime as required., • Ability to multitask and work safely in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Skills & Qualifications, • Experience in general labor, production, packing, or food manufacturing., • Backgrounds from companies such as Kraft, Tyson, Hill & Valley are a strong fit. Work Environment • Manufacturing facility with exposure to moving mechanical parts, high areas, and varying temperatures., • Frequent work in cold environments (approx. 30°ree;F) and areas with warmer temperatures., • High noise levels., • Requires full-shift standing and walking, and lifting/carrying 50 lbs or more., • Regular use of hands, arms, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, and hearing. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Davenport, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
