Our team works across a variety of environments to restore ecosystems, manage invasive species, and support environmental sustainability. Position Overview All Habitat Services is seeking a dependable and motivated Vegetation Management Technician to support a range of ecological management and vegetation control projects. This position involves applying herbicides, algaecides, insecticides, and biological controls under the direction of a certified supervisor. In addition to core fieldwork, this role may also support Highway Division operations, including operating a spray truck to perform right-of-way vegetation management as part of roadway maintenance and construction projects. Technicians must be able to follow detailed instructions, interpret pesticide labels and safety documentation, and perform fieldwork safely and efficiently in a variety of environments. About the Work This is a physically active, outdoor position working in a wide range of environments including natural areas, residential and commercial properties, and roadside right-of-way corridors. Field Technicians perform vegetation management using backpack and truck-mounted equipment while traveling to job sites throughout the region. Work is performed in varying weather conditions and may involve physically demanding tasks. Candidates must be willing to work extended or overtime hours as needed, particularly during peak seasons. Key Responsibilities Vegetation Management • Apply herbicides, algaecides, insecticides, and biological controls in accordance with federal and state guidelines under a certified supervisor, • Read and follow pesticide labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and safety protocols, • Utilize tablets to complete reporting, track herbicide usage, and document field activity, • Identify and differentiate basic invasive and native plant species in the field, • Complete job-specific service requests, timesheets, daily reports, and driver logs accurately, • Perform work safely, efficiently, and with strong attention to detail, • Follow company policies and client safety standards at all times, • Perform minor equipment repairs and use field tools as needed, • Maintain daily upkeep of vehicles and pesticide application equipment, • Assist with the operation of spray trucks for herbicide application within highway and roadside right-of-way areas, • Support vegetation management activities related to roadway maintenance and infrastructure projects, • Monitor job site conditions and adjust application methods as directed, • Perform basic mechanical tasks including small equipment maintenance and tire changes General Requirements • Must be at least 18 years old, • High school diploma or equivalent required, • Strong basic math skills and understanding of ratios, • Effective communication, problem-solving, organizational, and customer service skills, • Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record and ability to remain insurable, • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions year-round, • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including walking, standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs, • Willingness to work extended hours during peak seasons, • Demonstrates reliability, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic, • All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check Preferred Qualifications • Coursework or degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Forestry, Wetland Science, or related field, • Knowledge of Connecticut invasive plant species, • Experience with iPad-based or electronic reporting systems, • GIS or mapping experience, • Prior vegetation management, landscaping, or environmental field experience, • Experience operating or assisting with spray trucks or similar equipment, • Mechanical aptitude, including small engine or equipment maintenance Licensing & Certifications Required at Hire • Connecticut Commercial Pesticide Junior Operator Certificate, • OSHA 10-Hour Certification, • Some driving roles may require passing a DOT physical Equal Employment Opportunity All Habitat Services, LLC is an equal opportunity employer.
