Job Description We are seeking a hands-on Warehouse Operations Supervisor to lead daily operations within a welding and fabrication shop environment. This role is responsible for overseeing warehouse operations while directly supporting shop floor production, ensuring materials, workflow, and personnel are aligned to meet production demands safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate has experience in a welding/fabrication or heavy industrial environment and understands how material flow, staging, and coordination directly impact production output. This individual will lead from the floor, drive accountability, and promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership • Supervise and coordinate daily warehouse operations in support of a welding fabrication shop, • Plan and prioritize workflow to ensure materials are staged and delivered to support production schedules, • Partner closely with fabrication and welding teams to align material flow with production needs, • Monitor team performance and resolve operational bottlenecks impacting shop productivity Material Flow & Inventory Management • Oversee receiving, storage, staging, and movement of steel, pipe, fittings, and fabrication materials, • Ensure accurate inventory control, tracking, and material availability for shop operations, • Coordinate material staging to support fabrication sequences and minimize downtime, • Maintain organized, efficient storage systems to support high-volume production Quality & Continuous Improvement • Ensure proper handling and storage of materials to maintain quality standards, • Drive Lean initiatives such as 5S, visual management, and workflow optimization within the warehouse and staging areas, • Identify inefficiencies in material handling and implement process improvements, • Support standardized processes between warehouse and fabrication teams Safety & Compliance • Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies in a welding and fabrication environment, • Promote safe practices around material handling, rigging, forklifts, and shop equipment, • Lead safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations, • Maintain a strong culture of safety awareness and accountability Team Leadership & Development • Lead, coach, and develop warehouse and shop support personnel, • Provide performance feedback, training, and ongoing development, • Ensure team members are trained in equipment operation, safety procedures, and material handling, • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement Required Qualifications • 5+ years of supervisory experience in warehouse, manufacturing, or fabrication operations, • Experience working in or directly supporting a welding or fabrication shop, • Strong understanding of material flow in a production-driven environment, • Knowledge of inventory control, staging, and production support processes, • Working knowledge of Lean principles (5S, continuous improvement), • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial operations, • Experience managing workforce productivity and workflow coordination, • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards, particularly in industrial/shop environments, • Proficiency with technology (inventory systems, tablets, etc.), • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications • Experience in mechanical prefab (pipe, HVAC, plumbing systems), • Certifications such as OSHA 10/30, Lean Manufacturing, or rigging/material handling, • Experience with ERP/WMS systems, • Forklift or material handling equipment certificationCompany DescriptionAt KODIAK, we are dedicated to helping craft professionals build successful and rewarding careers in the construction industry.
