Job DescriptionSalary: Our Mission The goal of Ruths Way is to empower our female youth by showing them that regardless of their past or current situation, they CAN achieve successful futures! We encourage our adolescent females to develop a new, value-based mind-set, which helps to sow the seed of a virtuous woman! The foundation of our 3-Fs Value-Based System, of Family, Friendship, and Faithfulness, was derived from the values and morals of the Biblical story of Ruth. Ruth's entire journey was fueled by her faithfulness to her mother-in-law and her determination to preserve her family connections. Ruth embraced the value of Family, Friendship, and Faithfulness; and she honored a moral system that was based on great Love, Humility, and Respect. Most importantly, the core of this value system was family cohesion and preservation. *We believe that a young lady who has truly embraced these values, will no longer maintain a desire to repeat negative behaviors which are contradictory to these values. Our Core Values Spirituality Commitment Professionalism Empathy Position Board member responsibilities include: supporting the work of Ruths Way and providing mission-based leadership and strategic governance. Board Terms/ Participation Board members will serve a one-year term to be eligible for re-appointment for one additional term. Board meetings are held monthly and committee meetings are held as needed. Full participation is encouraged. • Time Commitment: 4-6 hours per month Leadership, Governance and Oversight Act as a trusted advisor to our CEO & Founder Review outcomes, evaluating their impact, measuring performance and overall support of committee meetings Approve Ruths Ways annual budget, and meet all legal and fiduciary responsibilities Assist the Executive Director and Board chair to identify and recruit new board members Represent Ruths Way to stakeholders; act as an ambassador for the organization Ensure Ruths Way has a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities we serve. Fundraising Board members are expected to make monthly contributions commensurate with their capacity. They solicit contributions from foundations, organizations and individuals. General Qualifications Board membership is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about our mission and who has a track record of leadership. Anyone who joins our board must be a proponent of this., • Honesty, Integrity, Credibility, Preparedness, and a Passion for improving the lives of Ruths Ways beneficiaries. Mandatory Requirements: Time Commitment: • 4-6 hours per month, to include but not limited to activities, committees, board meetings, interviews, recruitment tabling events, etc., • Community Events & Recruitment Tabling require a mandatory time commitment of a minimum of 2 hours, • Review and respond to all agency emails within a minimum of 1x/week, preferred timeframe is within 24-48 hours., • Actively participate in board tasks, • Every member of the board should be involved in/on a committee Social Media & emailing requirements: • Each Board member must share agency social media content consistently at a minimum of 3-5xs/week, • Active social media engagement/reposts will be tracked via our Asana app Team Member Recruitment • Board of Directors Members must actively engage in recruiting new Team Members, to include but not limited to, Board of Directors Members, Staff, Volunteers, etc. Fundraising • All Board Members are required to actively participate in fundraising, including but not limited to:, • Annual Fundraising Campaign, • Any fundraising activities Financial Contribution • Board Dues are $500/year, • Dues responsibility is effective as of 1st day of Orientation, • Can be contributed in cash lump sum, payments, or via fundraising Spirituality • Ruths Way, Inc. is a faith-based and family-orientated agency. Therefore, our Governance Team must be able to contribute a high degree of spirit-led decision-making skills to our Team and be able to function in a family-oriented atmosphere. *Service on Ruths Ways Board of Directors is without remuneration, except for administrative support, travel, and accommodation costs in relation to board members duties.
