Job Description The Role We are seeking Organ Perfusion Specialists to join our team and expand our ability to honor every donated organ while unlocking the potential of biomedical innovation with Human Organ Trials. This role involves performing a variety of technical laboratory procedures, including receiving research-donated organs, monitoring them throughout perfusion experiments, and operating sensitive perfusion and point-of-care laboratory equipment. The ideal candidate has experience in clinical or clinical-adjacent settings, is well-trained in lab safety protocols, and is highly motivated and passionate about advancing biomedical innovation. The Organ Perfusion Specialist will be on call (5, 8-hour shifts) Monday – Friday and 1 in 2 weekend (2, 12-hour shifts) year-round. Additionally, the position will be responsible for executing assigned perfusion chores (e.g. maintaining an organized lab space, washing blood, creating infusions, etc.). Technical Skill Requirements • Intermediate experience in operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment and potentially dangerous substances, • In depth knowledge of laboratory best practices, • Proficient knowledge of MS Office and database systems Responsibilities • Be on call for organ arrival, ensuring readiness for immediate perfusion and preservation., • Operate and maintain equipment during organ perfusions, ensuring smooth processes and troubleshooting issues as they arise. Assist in ordering laboratory supplies., • Take samples from perfusion circuits to assess organ viability and function. Monitor and maintain physiological parameters, including hemodynamic stability and oxygenation levels, etc., • Record all data and maintain records of perfusion parameters in specified electronic forms with accuracy and responsibility., • Prepare and administer appropriate solutions and medications for organ maintenance, while storing all chemicals substances and fluids according to safety instructions., • Participate in continuous improvement discussions and initiatives related to perfusion practices., • Conduct experiments under defined conditions to verify/reject various types of hypotheses using refined scientific methods, • Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment Qualifications Preferred: Bachelors degree or higher in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or other relevant field with at least 1-year proven experience as a lab technician. Accepted: Bachelors degree or higher in other relevant fields with proven experience in a relevant position. Compensation, Benefits, and Diversity Commitment Our compensation structure includes a base and semi-annual bonus. The range for this role is $50,000-$57,000 annually.
