IT Support Engineer (1st / 2nd Line – On-Site) Location: Great Barford Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum Working Hours: 06:00 – 14:30, Monday to Friday I am working on behalf of my Client who are seeking an experienced 1st / 2nd Line IT Support Engineer to operate as an on-site (in-plant) engineer within one of our key customer environments. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where you will act as the primary IT presence on-site, supporting daily operations across a fast-paced distribution and office setting. You will work closely with end users, third-party vendors, and the central service desk to ensure smooth and efficient IT service delivery across three locations. Key ResponsibilitiesUser Support (1st / 2nd Line) • Deliver on-site IT support to office, workshop, and warehouse users, • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues, • Escalate complex incidents to 3rd line teams or external vendors where necessary, • Maintain a professional, customer-focused approach at all timesApplications & Systems Support, • Provide support for the Syrinx application, • Maintain and support Terminal Server / RDS environments (used for Sage), • Administer and support Microsoft 365 services (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint), • Support and maintain on-premises Windows Server environmentsInfrastructure & Networking, • Provide 1st and 2nd line support for network infrastructure (switches, cabling, connectivity), • Troubleshoot LAN/WAN issues and basic firewall/network problems, • Liaise with ISPs and third-party providers to resolve connectivity issuesDevices & End User Computing, • Support desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, scanners, and warehouse terminals, • Build, configure, and deploy new hardware, • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controlsOperational & Proactive Tasks, • Monitor systems and proactively address potential issues, • Maintain accurate documentation and handover notes, • Collaborate with internal teams and customer management, • Ensure adherence to IT standards, processes, and proceduresSkills & Experience (Essential), • Proven experience in a 1st / 2nd Line IT Support role, • Experience supporting users in a fast-paced operational or warehouse environment, • Strong working knowledge of:, • Windows 10 / 11, • Windows Server (on-premises), • Terminal Server / RDS, • Microsoft 365 / Office 365, • Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, switching, connectivity troubleshooting), • Excellent communication and customer service skills, • Ability to work independently as the sole on-site IT presence
