We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and customer-focused Pest Control Technician to join our team. This is a practical and varied role. No two days are the same, and you will visit a range of properties, identify pest problems, carry out treatments and provide customers with professional advice to prevent problems from returning. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys working independently, solving problems and dealing with customers professionally. Key Responsibilities • Attend scheduled domestic and commercial pest control appointments., • Investigate pest activity and identify the cause and extent of infestations., • Identify common pests including rats, mice, cockroaches, bed bugs, fleas, ants, wasps, flies and other nuisance pests., • Carry out pest control treatments safely and effectively using approved methods and products., • Set, inspect and maintain traps, bait stations and monitoring equipment., • Carry out follow-up visits and assess the effectiveness of treatments., • Identify potential pest entry points, harbourage areas and contributing factors., • Provide customers with clear advice and recommendations to prevent future infestations., • Complete treatment reports, photographs and job records accurately., • Communicate with the office regarding completed jobs, follow-up requirements and customer issues., • Maintain pest control equipment, PPE and company vehicles in a clean and professional condition., • Follow all company health & safety, COSHH and pest-control procedures., • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude when representing Pests R Us., • Build positive relationships with customers and site managers., • Identify opportunities for additional pest-control, proofing or preventative work where appropriate. Types of Properties You may work across a wide variety of environments, including: • Restaurants and food businesses, • Schools and nurseries, • Offices, • Residential properties, • Hotels and accommodation, • Property-management sites, • Shops and commercial premises, • Warehouses, • Construction sites, • Public-sector buildings, • Communal areas and external grounds Skills & Experience Essential: • Reliable and punctual., • Professional attitude and good work ethic., • Good communication and customer-service skills., • Practical and confident approach to problem-solving., • Ability to work independently and manage a daily schedule., • Good attention to detail., • Comfortable working in different environments and weather conditions., • Physically capable of carrying equipment, climbing stairs and working in confined or awkward areas., • Basic smartphone skills for completing job reports and uploading photographs., • Appropriate driving/riding entitlement for the vehicle being used. Desirable: • Previous pest control experience., • BPCA or RSPH pest-control qualification., • Commercial pest-control experience., • Knowledge of COSHH and safe pesticide use., • Experience with digital job-management or CRM systems., • Experience in proofing, bird control or other property maintenance work. Driving & Motorcycle Licence Because the role involves travelling between customer sites, applicants must have a suitable means of travelling to work locations. A full UK driving licence is preferred. Applicants who use a motorcycle or scooter are also welcome. A valid CBT with the appropriate motorcycle entitlement or a full motorcycle licence is acceptable where applicable. Any motorcycle/scooter used for work must have appropriate business-use insurance and comply with all legal requirements. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership • Oversee the day-to-day performance of all assigned corporate stores., • Ensure stores open and close on time and operate in line with company standards and procedures., • Maintain consistently high standards across food quality, cleanliness, customer service, health and safety, and overall store presentation., • Support stores operationally where required, including during peak periods, manager absence, staffing shortages or other business-critical situations., • Conduct regular store visits and operational reviews, recording findings and actions as required., • Ensure store managers complete all required administration, checks and reporting accurately and on time. Planning and Control • Monitor labour scheduling to ensure stores are appropriately resourced in line with forecasted sales and business needs., • Review rotas, staffing levels and labour usage to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities., • Support Store Managers with forecasting, planning and operational organisation to improve consistency and performance., • Monitor food ordering, stock accuracy, food transfers and inventory discipline to support cost control and minimise waste., • Ensure key business priorities, promotional activity and operational requirements are clearly communicated and executed across stores. Store Visits and Oversight The Area Manager is expected to maintain a regular presence across their stores and complete visits which may include: • Operational standards reviews, • Opening and closing checks, • Paperwork and admin reviews, • HACCP and compliance reviews, • Training observations and coaching, • Stock and inventory checks, • Rush period support, • Manager meetings and action planning, • Wellbeing and engagement check-ins All visits, findings and follow-up actions must be recorded in the appropriate company systems.
