The Role: Ross Anderson and Stephanie Hutton lead our Private Client department, which is comprised of Associates, Senior Solicitors, Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors and accredited Paralegals. The team is further supported by experienced Legal Assistants who provide dedicated administrative assistance. As Ross and Stephanie are dual-qualified in both Scots and English law, the department delivers a broad range of services to clients across Great Britain. Specialisation within Private Client is encouraged, and we actively promote cross-referral of work with complementary departments to enhance collaboration and strengthen client relationships. This role offers the opportunity to work both autonomously and collaboratively, supported by experienced Solicitors and Paralegals, enabling you to develop and progress professionally within a supportive environment. Candidates must be strong team players with excellent communication and technical abilities. Previous Private Client experience is essential. We maintain close working relationships with our clients, alongside an established network of experts across relevant disciplines. The position provides a clear pathway for personal and professional growth within the firm, supported by promotion opportunities and ongoing capability development. You will benefit from a high level of client and team interaction, taking personal responsibility for managing a varied and often complex caseload while working closely with the responsible Partner and supervising Solicitor. You will join a partner-led team of legal professionals with diverse expertise and a shared commitment to delivering outstanding client service — a core priority across the firm. We are open to this role being based out of our Edinburgh or Glasgow office with hybrid working offered. Key Responsibilities: • Handling a caseload with support., • Managing varied Private Client case load – Estate Planning, Trust Management and Executry files, • Exposure to Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains tax and Income tax, • Meeting clients both in person and on the phone and video calls, • Working cases alongside other fee-earners and administrators, • Reporting to the responsible Associate & Partner, while collaborating together in the growth and development of the team, • Referring other work to other departments within the firm where suitable/required, • Actively participate in business development opportunities and support our Partners to continuously drive forward business opportunities Requirements: • At least 1 year experience in a Private Client team/firm, • Comprehensive technical knowledge of managing private client cases, • Diligent, hard-working, and committed to providing clients with the best outcome, • Strong case management skills, • Adaptability to both independent work and collaborative teamwork, • Strong organisational abilities with efficient caseload management, • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate appropriately with both clients and peers at varying levels of seniority, • Natural compassion and empathy - exemplifying kindness and care, particularly in all client interaction, • A “can do” attitude Desirable but Not Essential: • STEP Qualification, • Dual Qualification in both Scottish and English Law Company Benefits & Perks • Competitive Salary, • 23 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays.
