SENCO (Maternity Cover) – Immediate Start Location: Barnet, London Contract: Maternity Cover (Fixed Term) Start Date: ASAP Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience) About the Role We are seeking an experienced and dedicated SENCO to join a specialist provision supporting children and young people aged 10–19 with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a key leadership role, responsible for ensuring high-quality provision, effective outcomes, and strong multi-agency collaboration for all pupils with SEND. Key Responsibilities • Lead and manage the school’s SEND provision in line with statutory requirements and best practice, • Oversee the implementation, review, and quality of EHCPs, ensuring provision meets individual needs, • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support differentiation, inclusion, and pupil progress, • Monitor and track the progress of pupils with SEND, ensuring effective interventions are in place, • Coordinate and liaise with external professionals including Educational Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapists, and CAMHS, • Support and guide staff through training, coaching, and best practice in SEND and inclusive teaching, • Lead annual reviews and contribute to multi-agency meetings, • Work closely with families, carers, and local authorities to ensure a holistic approach to support, • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safeguarding and SEND policies, • Contribute to the wider leadership and development of the school About You • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), • National Award for SEN Coordination (or working towards), • Proven experience working as a SENCO or in a senior SEND role, • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, EHCP processes, and safeguarding, • Experience within specialist or alternative provision settings (highly desirable), • Ability to support pupils with complex needs, including ASD and SEMH, • Excellent communication and leadership skills, • A proactive, solution-focused approach with a commitment to inclusive education What We Offer • A supportive and collaborative leadership team, • The opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of young people with complex needs, • Ongoing professional development and training, • A well-resourced, specialist learning environment Apply Now This is an urgent requirement, and interviews will be arranged on a rolling basis.
