Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire | Up to 20 Pharmacies We’re looking for an inspiring, hands-on leader to join our Operations team as an Area Operations Manager, overseeing 15–20 community pharmacies across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. This is a highly visible, fast-paced role for someone who thrives in pharmacy environments, enjoys constant challenge, and is motivated by leading teams to deliver real, measurable results for patients, colleagues and the business. You’re someone who: • Thrives on colleague and patient interaction, • Is passionate about spending the majority of your time (around 90%) in pharmacies, • Works at pace while maintaining high levels of accuracy, • Is resilient and embraces change and challenge, • Is motivated by leading teams to deliver tangible, measurable outcomes The Role As an Area Operations Manager, you will be accountable for the overall performance, safety and standards of your pharmacy estate. You’ll build capable, engaged teams who deliver outstanding community pharmacy experiences while achieving KPIs, budgets and service targets. Reporting to the Senior / Regional Operations Manager, you will play a key role in translating strategy into operational excellence across your area. Key Responsibilities Operational Performance • Visit each pharmacy at least every two weeks, leaving clear SMART actions to drive performance, • Align pharmacy activity to our Delivering Well strategy and wider corporate objectives, • Drive Rx growth, service delivery and OTC sales in line with budgets, • Ensure full compliance with all company processes and procedures, • Ensure all pharmacies meet GPhC standards and NHS contractual requirements, • Complete first-line investigations into Patient Safety Incidents (PSIs) and Controlled Drug discrepancies where required, • Ensure teams actively promote and deliver NHS and private services, • Make sure complaints and incidents are reported, resolved or escalated appropriately, • Build and maintain strong relationships within the local healthcare community, • Recruit, develop and retain motivated, capable pharmacy teams, • Manage performance through effective coaching, feedback and formal reviews, • Identify and develop internal and external talent to create a strong succession pipeline, • Communicate clearly and consistently so teams understand priorities and expectations, • Proven experience in field or multi-site management (BAU, relief team management and/or project work), • Understanding of the pharmacy market and profession (desirable), • Strong commercial awareness with sound analytical skills, • Excellent communication and influencing skills, • Effective coaching and feedback capability, • Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, • Ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, • Understanding of NHS contractual requirements and GPhC / PSNI standards We reserve the right to close this vacancy in advance of the closing date.
