Environmental Analyst Location: South Wales (Cardiff, Monmouth or Welshpool) Salary: £19.54 p/hour, 37 hours a week, Monday-Friday Employment Type: Temporary – 2 months, hybrid working About the Role We’re seeking a scientifically minded, analytical individual to join our public sector client based in Wales as an Environmental Analyst. You’ll play a crucial role in reviewing and validating work carried out across river catchments in South Wales. The organisation already holds comprehensive quantitative datasets, what they need now is someone who can qualify that data, interpret what it really means, and ensure the work completed delivers the right environmental outcomes. What You’ll Be Doing • Evaluating work undertaken across river catchments and determining whether the intended outcomes have been achieved, • Running structured, in‑house evaluation sessions with technical specialists, project teams, and other relevant stakeholders, • Assessing quantitative data and qualifying it through research, environmental understanding, and logical reasoning, • Producing clear recommendations and conclusions based on evidence and catchment science, • Identifying gaps, inconsistencies, or areas requiring further validation, • Supporting business decisions by presenting findings in a clear and confident manner, • Using Excel to analyse, organise and interpret datasets What We’re Looking For • Degree (BSc/MSc/PhD) in Environmental Science, Marine Science, Ecology, Biology, Geography, or related field, • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to draw conclusions from complex datasets, • Confident and logical decision-making skills, • Excellent Excel skills (indexing, pivot tables, lookups, data handling, etc.), • Power BI experience is a bonus, • Comfortable evaluating work objectively and professionally
