Sous Chef Permanent Role - School Full-time | £14.15 per hour | 40 hours per week | Canterbury We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our vibrant kitchen team in a busy hospitality setting. About the role You will work 5 out of 7 days per week, with a mix of morning and afternoon shifts, supporting the Head Chef in a team of 5 chefs and 4 kitchen assistants. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your leadership skills while maintaining high standards of food quality and service. Key responsibilities Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations and workflow Supervise, motivate and coach kitchen staff (chefs, cooks and assistants) Prepare and cook dishes to consistent, high standards of quality and presentation Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, allergen and health & safety compliance Contribute ideas to menu development and seasonal specials Manage stock, place orders and control waste through effective inventory practices Support training of new team members Work closely with front-of-house for smooth service What we're looking for Proven supervisory experience in a professional kitchen Strong background in food production, cooking and preparation Excellent leadership and team management skills Thorough knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards Previous restaurant experience (essential); broader hospitality background preferred Ability to stay organised and perform under pressure Awareness of current culinary trends and techniques Direct customer service experience is a plus (not essential) What we offer Competitive pay: £14.15 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week Benefits including: Canteen Company pension Cycle to work scheme Discounted or free food Life insurance Job type: Full-time, in-person If you're a passionate, motivated culinary professional ready to step up and contribute to a quality-focused team, we'd love to hear from you.
