Assistant Technical Coordinator Who are we? The Position An Assistant Technical Coordinator forms part of our established in-house technical and design team, which sits within our wider Construction division, offering specialist assistance in the selection and installation of compliant, cost-effective systems. The Assistant Technical Coordinator will work closely with consultant design teams to coordinate their workstreams and advise the Senior Technical Managers of any issues or programme concerns. This includes reporting risks and opportunities and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance, support timely project delivery, and uphold Galliards high standards of quality and cost-efficiency. Duties include but are not limited to: Report to the Senior Technical Managers on any risks, opportunities, and mitigation strategies to maintain the project completion date Collaborate with consultant design teams to answer technical queries and manage variation orders in line with the procurement and construction programmes. Actively engage with design team meetings and manage coordination between disciplines. Review and analyse incoming design information to ensure clarity and coordination with the construction team. Carry out site reviews and assist with troubleshooting to resolve technical issues as they arise. Arrange and/or attend workshops to ensure full coordination and regulatory compliance. Monitor subcontractor technical queries, RFIs, and technical submissions. Support the tracking and issue of O&M manuals and handover documents, ensuring all record documents are received and stored appropriately. Manage BREEAM, HUG, and ESG requirements, including consultant appointments and credit tracking to maintain compliance. Collaborate with the construction team to identify and manage risks and opportunities arising from design and M&E-related change orders. Seek and evaluate new systems and products that can improve quality, reduce cost, and ensure compliance with evolving regulations and planning conditions. Promote a collaborative team culture and maintain transparent communication with project teams and the wider business. Review, maintain and update documentation regularly. Stay informed of legislative and regulatory changes affecting M&E design and site processes. They will also meet the below criteria: Essential: Previous experience managing the design process on large residential projects. In-depth knowledge of building regulations and statutory requirements. An understanding of modern construction techniques, including: Piling Reinforced Concrete Structures Cladding Systems Mechanical and Electrical Services Fit-Out Trades Outstanding communication skills across face-to-face, telephone, and email interactions, with a professional approach. Proficient in basic Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and Outlook with the ability to learn new systems as needed. Educated to HNC level or equivalent (Construction Management / Mechanical & Electrical / Skilled Trade or similar). We will also consider, and value qualified by experience. Job Purpose The estimator is primarily an office-based role where the employee will provide day to day support to the Managing Director and the sales team on various elements within the companys sales / projects based activities. Primary Duties and Responsibilities The estimator performs a wide range of duties as listed below. Once an enquiry is received the estimator would be expected to carry-out these duties as necessary. Specific: Estimating Stage Log the enquiry on the database and set up the project enquiry file. Set up the estimate Excel spreadsheet and the tabs associated with the requirements of the survey. Analyse and familiarise yourself with the survey notes and drawings. Decide how best to present the information to the client. Initiate any additional design works as necessary i.e. 3D renders, mood boards, alternative layouts. Send out enquiries for prices for brought in services / trades. These packages could include further design information and some specification writing. Build up labour and materials costs in the Excel spreadsheet in order to bring together the schedule of costs. Produce the Schedule of Works document that will eventually be present to the client. Some more minor quotations may be issued via email. Complete final checks on all works prior to issuing to the client or sales team for presentation. Update the estimating workload sheet to track current workload and performance. Update the quote bank with all necessary data from the estimate. Chase up live quotations and update the quote bank. Complete revised quotations as necessary. Keep a detailed log of discussions with all parties throughout the estimating process. From time to time the estimator may be required to provide pricing support to the projects team for contract variations. Specific: Pre Contract Work with the sales team to develop the finishes schedule and ensure the design is finalised prior to issuing to the project department. At this point the finishes chosen should be cross-checked against the costs confirmed. Book the estimate into the projects system and conduct a handover meeting with the project team and sales team as necessary. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of fit-out and refurbishment industry. Experience in the commercial interiors sector. Product knowledge within the sector. Excellent communication skills across all elements of the sector. i.e. sub-contractors, suppliers, customers. Ability to work alone, schedule own workload and prioritise as necessary. Basic knowledge of CDM regulations and Building Regulations. Proficiency In Very strong skills with Microsoft Excel spread sheets is a key requirement .
