Engineering Technical Quality and Assurance Manager Technical Asset • Vacancy type: Full-Time Permanent, • Closing date: 16/12/2025, • Salary: £54,813 + depending on experience About the role The Engineering Technical Quality & Assurance Manager is a newly created and critical role within Edinburgh Airport’s Engineering function. You will be responsible for providing technical assurance, quality oversight, and compliance verification across all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building systems within capital projects, refurbishment programmes, and day-to-day operational engineering works delivered by internal teams and external suppliers. Operating across a live, complex, 24/7 airport environment, the role ensures that construction, maintenance, and engineering activities are carried out safely, compliantly, and to the highest professional standards. You will work closely with project teams, the Contractor Control Registration Unit (CCRU), engineering colleagues, retail partners, and specialist contractors to ensure excellent technical governance and consistent quality outcomes. We are looking for someone with strong technical expertise, a background in quality assurance or Clerk of Works–style inspection, and a proactive approach to maintaining safety, compliance, and operational performance. The first stage will be a conversational interview with our Senior Engineering Manager – Compliance and Contracts, and another member of our Engineering team. For successful candidates, the second interview will be a competency based interview, with our Head of Engineering and Senior Engineering Manager, which will include a presentation which will be confirmed on invite to interview. You can find out more about our interview process and the types of questions we may ask ___ What you’ll be doing • Lead quality assurance efforts, managing a portfolio of internal and external project works through all phases—from design development to commissioning, testing, and handover., • Inspect and report on all areas of project delivery to maintain quality standards, identify defects, and ensure compliance with airport engineering standards and British regulations (including BS7671, BS5839, BS5266)., • Monitor and verify MEP installations against approved drawings, specifications, and energy/sustainability standards., • Coordinate and conduct regular site inspections, raising early warnings on issues identified, and ensuring timely resolution., • Develop, implement, and monitor Inspection, Test and Assurance Plans (ITAs), ensuring all activities are documented and completed prior to project handover., • Manage and utilise the airport’s performance tools to track quality and compliance activities, including Keystone or similar platforms., • Prepare and deliver clear, structured daily/weekly reports on progress, quality, and compliance to senior management teams, • Develop and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards., • Monitor performance of contractors and suppliers against KPIs and SLAs, ensuring they are compliant with CDM regulations, Health and Safety at Work Act and Electricity at Work Regulations., • Apply structured problem solving methodologies (e.g. 8D, DMFEA) to improve reliability and mitigate operational risks., • Establish project assurance plans for infrastructure works, including landside, airside, retail and refurbishment projects. What we’re looking for To apply for this role you’ll need • This role requires the successful candidate to obtain a Counter Terrorist Check, so you must have been living in the UK for the last 3 consecutive years, • Relevant degree or technical qualification in Engineering or Construction Management., • Strong technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, with experience in commercial M&E projects and building services., • Significant experience in site management, quality assurance, Clerk of Works, compliance, or construction/MEP supervision roles within a construction or refurbishment environment—preferably in airport or critical infrastructure settings., • In-depth knowledge of British Standards (BS7671, BS5839, BS5266), airport engineering standards, and relevant regulations (PUWER, LOLER, PSSR, F-gas, Legionella, DSEAR, ISO standards)., • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications, and experience with building regulations, CDM regulations, and planning requirements., • Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously, with a flexible approach to working across teams as business needs evolve., • Demonstrated ability to manage conflict, drive quality outcomes, and influence at all levels, both on-site and at management level., • Computer literacy (MS Office and project management tools) and strong reporting/presentation skills.
