Role responsibilities We are seeking a Project Manager (Rolling Stock / Rail Vehicle Overhaul) to join our Production team. Reporting to the Head of Production, the post holder will be responsible for the mobilisation and end-to-end delivery of Heavy Maintenance and Rolling Stock Overhaul projects at our Cardiff facility. The role is accountable for ensuring projects are delivered safely, compliantly, on time and within budget, while meeting customer, contractual and business requirements. Acting as the central point of accountability, the Project Manager will lead project planning, governance, stakeholder engagement and performance management throughout the full project lifecycle. This is a customer-facing role, working closely with Train Operating Companies (TOCs), Rolling Stock Owning Companies (ROSCOs) and internal production and support teams to drive successful outcomes and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Safety & Ethics – Support the Pullman Rail SHEQ strategy and ensure full compliance with safety, health, environmental and quality requirements, championing a strong safety culture across all project activities., • Delivery & Excellence – Deliver projects to agreed time, cost and quality targets, driving efficiency, margin performance and customer satisfaction., • Project Leadership & Governance – Lead the planning, execution and control of rolling stock overhaul and heavy maintenance projects, translating contract scope into lifecycle delivery plans, programmes and resource plans., • Financial & Commercial Control – Manage project budgets, cost forecasts and margin trackers, identifying risks, opportunities and corrective actions, and supporting tendering and change management activities., • Performance & Reporting – Set and monitor project KPIs, prepare dashboards and status reports, and provide clear insights to internal and external stakeholders., • Collaboration & Customers – Act as the primary customer interface, building strong relationships and working closely with production, engineering and support functions to ensure safe and effective delivery., • Risk & Change Management – Identify, manage and mitigate project and health & safety risks, escalating issues as appropriate and supporting controlled implementation of project change., • People & Capability – Work with operational and training teams to ensure appropriate resources, competencies and skills are in place, and capture lessons learned to support continuous improvement. Who we’re looking for • A candidate with proven project management experience within an engineering, manufacturing or other safety-critical environment, ideally within rail or rolling stock overhaul., • Someone with a degree in engineering or a related discipline, or a recognised project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2 or equivalent)., • An individual with strong knowledge of project planning, cost control, maintenance and overhaul processes, and the ability to manage complex delivery programmes., • A confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of working effectively with customers, suppliers and multi-disciplinary internal teams., • A commercially aware professional with a strong focus on delivery, continuous improvement and customer value., • A collaborative team player who can also work independently, using sound judgement to resolve issues in a fast-paced operational environment. Welsh Language Skills The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.
