Job Description Position: Youth Ministry Assistant Date Revised: October 16, 2025 Reports to: Coordinator of High School Youth Ministry Location: Good Shepherd Catholic Community 1000 Tinker Rd Colleyville, Texas 76034 The principal duty of all employees is to assist in the mission of the Church in the Diocese of Fort Worth. Ministry Description: The Youth Ministry Assistant supports the High School and Middle School Youth Ministers at Good Shepherd by carrying out key administrative, ministerial, and program tasks. Working under the guidance of the youth ministry coordinators, this role helps ensure our programs are well-organized, effective, and meaningful for the youth of our parish. Principal Accountabilities: • Assist the coordinators of youth ministry to implement successful youth ministry nights and offerings., • Communicate daily through email, phone, and group messaging with the parents of our students, staff, and volunteers regarding all middle school and high school formation needs and offerings., • Create and send out email marketing materials and weekly ministry updates to parents and families., • Schedule and assist in organizing retreats, trips, pilgrimages, and other youth events., • Collect and track all Confirmation and OCIA-AC documents in an organized and efficient manner., • Manage registration of our students by organizing paperwork, forms, documentation., • Oversee food for youth ministry offerings, including organizing kitchen teams and weekly meals, inviting Ministries to provide food, and creating semester “Pack-the-Pantry” donations., • Ensure all adult volunteers are current on Diocesan Safe Environment at all times., • Supervise the check-in process for our weekly youth ministry programs., • Handle purchases, ordering, and setup for weekly programming nights and retreats., • Make Liturgical documents as needed for Confirmation and OCIA (programs, handouts, etc.), • Assist in department-wide offerings and tasks as given by the Director of Faith Formation., • Assist High School and Middle School Youth Ministers in a variety of ministerial or logistical tasks as they arise. Typical Decisions and/or Recommendations Made in This Position: Minimal - Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance. Supervision Given and/or Received: Minimal to Moderate. Internal Contacts: • Pastor, Priests, Business Managers, and employees. External Contacts: • Parishioners, vendors, local, state, and federal agency representatives, and auditors. Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements: • This position works in both a typical office environment and in public spaces but is subject to stress due to the evolving and quickly expanding business needs, tight deadlines and heavy workloads., • This role routinely uses standard office equipment: calculators, computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc., • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary, extending arms and reaching files stored in multiple levels on file shelves, climbing up a stepladder to access files., • Database entry via computer keyboard that requires hand and wrist movements., • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance and up to 60 pounds with assistance., • Nights, weekend, and holiday hours required. Travel Requirements: • None to Minimal Education and Experience Preferred: • Practicing Catholic, faithful to the Magisterium, and in good standing with the Catholic Church., • At least 1 year of youth ministry experience, • Highschool Diploma/GED Knowledge and Skills Preferred: • Excellent communication and presentation skills., • Excellent time management skills., • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)., • Willingness and ability to learn how to effectively use parish software., • Demonstrated competency in theology and catechetics., • Demonstrated knowledge and competency in catechetical methodology and pedagogy in accordance with Magisterial Documents on Catechesis., • Detail oriented and organized., • Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn., • Demonstrated history of good judgement., • Demonstrated aptitude for adaptability and flexibility., • Demonstrated ability to skillset to listen empathetically, make peace, and de-escalate., • Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality, • Ability to receive, understand, retain, and complete verbal and written tasks., • Ability to work independently as well as in teams., • Ability to provide excellent customer service and work efficiently with staff, clergy, religious, and laity., • Ability to work well with people from a diverse variety of audiences.
