JOB OVERVIEW: Strategic initiative, oversee and administer all Human Resources functions with strategic to include, but not limited to, recruiting, training and development, wage/benefit administration, compliance with statutory requirements, employment process, employee relations, contract compliance, performance evaluations, workers compensation and safety initiatives and general leadership guidance and support. The position is on-site with approximately 10% travel to other hotel locations as needed. ESSENTIALS JOB FUNCTIONS: Leads Human Resources & Culture Vision: Creates and communicates a compelling HR & Culture vision that enhances employee experience, organizational performance, and alignment with the Brand’s long-term strategy. This leadership would oversee the current locations (The Colony Hotel and Hedges Inn, East Hampton), and future locations. Develops Strategic Initiatives: Designs and implements long term strategies, relationships, and programs for talent development, organizational effectiveness, culture-building, succession planning, organizational change and leadership growth. • Focus on staffing strategy on the seasonality of our hotel and timeline to ensure maximum staffing in peak seasons., • Utilize internships, training programs, and international recruitment as a supplement to our core headcount level and talent pipeline., • Builds on-going relationships with local schools, tech colleges and community organizations to maximize talent pipeline, • Optimizes opportunities to develop and engage in our high-potential employees for future succession planning., • Ensures they are aligned, empowered, and meeting performance and service excellence standards., • Ensures team is educated on federal, state, and local laws and guidelines in order to provide educated and informative information, • Ensures team is able to prioritize projects and interactions and provide on-going follow-up, • Administer employee benefits programs including health insurance, workers' compensation, and retirement plans., • Ensure compliance with employment & labor law, OSHA regulations, FMLA policies, and other legal requirements., • Manage employee relations by addressing workplace issues, conflict management, and ensuring a respectful work environment., • Identifies areas of opportunity for development and retraining and provides strategies to improve performance., • Aligns HR strategy and metrics to support financial feasibility of the property and Company., • Conduct data analysis to inform strategic decisions related to human capital management and organizational effectiveness., • Provides counsel and advisement to senior leadership team, including GM and CEO, including legality and exposure on decision options presented and recognizing threats and opportunities in the market., • Enhance our company initiatives through training, communication, recognition programs, and organizational partnerships and alignment., • Represents the Company professionally in all external partnerships and relationships within the market., • Provide timely feedback and partnership in all employee issues, ensuring a non-partial, objective view and educational guidance., • Ensures the importance and alignment of Forbes standards in all interactions., • Monitors market SWOT to ensure The Colony is an Employer of Choice, including providing timely benefit analysis, wage surveys, trends and threats to our workforce., • Provides timely policy changes and recommendations based on market research and networking., • Ensures HR drives the Employee Experience with timely and interactive activities, events, and recognition programs., • Ensures all compliance training courses are scheduled and completed as required., • Oversees hourly and leadership onboarding, orientations, annual orientation, and GM Town Halls to support strong 90-day transitions and ongoing development. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor's degree in human resource management or business administration or similar, • 8+ years of progressive HR leadership experience and roles., • Hospitality experience required, • Proven senior leadership experience in human resources management within a complex or multi-property/multi-state organization., • Extensive background in employment & labor law compliance including FMLA, OSHA regulations, workers' compensation policies, immigration, • Demonstrated success in talent acquisition, succession planning, performance management, and employee relations., • Supervising experience with a track record of managing HR teams effectively., • Proficiency with HRIS platforms (ADP currently), Microsoft 365, • Strong negotiation skills along with expertise in benefits administration and contract management of third-parties, • Skilled in strategic planning, process improvement initiatives, data analysis skills for HR metrics tracking and critical thinking, • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to senior leadership and staff alike., • Oral comprehension: demonstrates listening to and understanding information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences., • Reading comprehension: understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents., • Writing: communicates effectively in writing as appropriate for the audience’s needs., • Computer skills: proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software., • Excellent guest service skills and passion for hospitality., • Performs other duties as required by CEO or GM Desirable: • Previous luxury, hotel director experience, • Multi-property leadership experience, • Bi-lingual preferred Physical Requirements: • Ability to sit, stand, climb stairs, and move intermittently during working hours., • Exposure to an outdoor environment (e.g., heat, rain, wind, cold)., • Ability to travel via air/automobile when needed.
