Job DescriptionSalary: $57,800 - $68,000 Job Title: Communications & Outreach Specialist Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO) Classification: Full-time, Exempt (Remote with periodic in-person meetings) Position Summary The Communications & Outreach Specialist plays a key role in amplifying the mission and visibility of the Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence (TCEDSV). This position develops, produces, and implements strategic communication initiatives and educational materials that strengthen statewide engagement, support member programs, and raise public awareness of domestic and sexual violence issues. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator with strong writing and design abilities, a deep understanding of survivor-centered and trauma-informed approaches, and the ability to translate complex topics into clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences. Key Responsibilities Communications & Media Relations • Develop, write, and edit Coalition publications, including annual reports, newsletters, brochures, curricula, and educational toolkits., • Draft and distribute press releases, media statements, and editorials regarding Coalition news, events, and legislative priorities., • Collaborate with the CEO/COO to develop statements and coordinate media interviews., • Maintain and update the Coalitions Giving Matters profile and ensure consistent, accurate messaging across platforms., • Coordinate with state contacts (Governors Office, legislators, and other partners) as requested., • Draft legislative alerts and calls to action to keep stakeholders informed and engaged., • Manage and grow the Coalitions social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, etc.) to engage audiences, promote resources, and highlight partner initiatives., • Regularly review and update website content to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with current initiatives., • Design visually engaging materials and digital media content using Canva or other design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate, Camtasia, etc.)., • Produce and edit scripts, invitations, and written content for Coalition events, conferences, and campaigns., • Lead the Coalitions annual membership drive and coordinate communications with members and partners statewide., • Develop and implement effective marketing and outreach strategies to increase awareness of Coalition programs, resources, and training opportunities., • Partner with the Training & TA team to develop trauma-informed, culturally responsive educational materials for professionals across Tennessee., • Support the planning and promotion of Coalition conferences, awareness campaigns, and prevention initiatives., • Build and maintain positive relationships with member programs, community organizations, media representatives, and statewide stakeholders. Education & Experience Requirements Education • 3 - 5+ years of relevant professional experience in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, graphic design, social work., • Demonstrated experience collaborating with coalitions, state agencies, or community-based organizations, with familiarity in grant-funded programs and state or federal communication standards is required., • Substantial experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or outreach, within the nonprofit, advocacy, or human services sectors., • Proven ability to develop and implement comprehensive communication and outreach strategies across multiple platforms., • Strong track record of writing, editing, and producing a wide range of materials, including newsletters, press releases, reports, educational content, and other public-facing materials for diverse audiences., • Proficiency with digital design and content tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate, Camtasia), virtual collaboration tools (Teams, Zoom, etc.), and experience managing content through website platforms such as WordPress or similar systems., • Works independently and collaboratively, showing initiative, accountability, and strong follow-through in advancing Coalition goals., • Proactive and self-directed, able to anticipate needs, identify solutions, and complete tasks with minimal guidance., • Thrives in a remote, team-oriented setting, maintaining flexibility, reliability, and consistent communication., • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, accessible, and engaging content., • Proven project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail., • Strong creative and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to craft messaging that resonates across diverse audiences and media platforms., • Support and promote the mission, vision, and strategic goals of TCEDSV., • Actively learn and uphold the history, values, and trauma-informed philosophy of TCEDSV., • Foster strong communication and collaboration with internal team members and external partners., • Attend and participate in staff meetings, Coalition events, and other organizational activities., • Perform other duties as assigned by the Management Team. Work Environment TCEDSV operates in a remote work environment, with occasional in-person staff meetings, conferences, and events. Remote schedules are established by the immediate supervisor in consultation with the CEO and COO.
