Job Description Job Summary: The LMHC Intern / Registered Clinician provides therapeutic services to youth ages 6–17 and their families as part of the Children in Need of Services/Families in Need of Services (CINS/FINS) prevention program. This role involves conducting clinical assessments, offering individual and family counseling, and coordinating wraparound services to support behavioral improvement, family stability, and diversion from the juvenile justice or dependency systems. Services are delivered in compliance with Florida Statutes Chapters 458, 459, 490, and 491, and applicable Florida Administrative Code. All services are provided under the direct supervision of our internal Clinical Mental Health Supervisor. Reports To: Program Director and Clinical Supervisor Key Responsibilities: Counseling Services • Provide individual, group, and family counseling to youth and families in need of mental health support., • Deliver services for an average of 12 weeks per family, with weekly sessions unless clinically documented otherwise., • Ensure all services are provided directly or through coordination with a licensed mental health agency and meet licensure/certification standards., • Maintain accurate, timely documentation, including:, • Chronological case notes, • Psychosocial assessments, • Individualized service/treatment plans and reviews, • Document missed or rescheduled sessions in client records and databases., • Collaborate with program staff, schools, families, and community partners to coordinate care., • Refer families to external resources as needed (e.g., substance use treatment, psychiatric care)., • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments using prevention tools to guide treatment planning., • Monitor outcomes and adjust services accordingly., • Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information., • Report any suspected breaches of data security immediately. Qualifications: • Active Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Counseling, or a closely related field from a CACREP-accredited or Board-approved program., • Registration as a Mental Health Intern (LMHC) with the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling (or eligible to register)., • Ability to practice under direct supervision of a Board-approved Clinical Mental Health Supervisor., • Strong interest in gaining post-graduate supervised clinical experience toward full licensure., • Knowledge of ethical and legal standards in clinical mental health counseling., • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills., • Minimum 1 year of experience with at-risk youth and families preferred., • Strong skills in clinical assessment, treatment planning, and crisis intervention., • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, adolescent development, and family systems therapy preferred., • Proficiency in documentation systems and Microsoft Office. Work Environment: • Community-based, non-residential setting., • May involve travel for in-home visits, school meetings, or court appearances., • Flexible schedule required, including some evenings/weekends.
