Job DescriptionJob Title: Sheet Metal Technician / HVAC ForemanJob Description This role combines hands-on sheet metal fabrication and HVAC ductwork installation with the opportunity to lead field crews on commercial and industrial jobsites. You will lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, modify, and repair sheet metal products and HVAC components, while ensuring that projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule. The work focuses on air-cooled DX, condenser-water, and chilled-water systems in new construction and tenant finish environments, including large and complex projects with accelerated timelines. Responsibilities • Install, fabricate, and repair sheet metal ductwork, HVAC components, hangers, fittings, and related systems in accordance with blueprints and specifications., • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, isometric drawings, sketches, and product specifications to determine layout, sequence, and methods of fabrication and installation., • Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on materials using templates, measuring tools, gauges, and squares to ensure accurate fabrication., • Select appropriate gauge and type of sheet metal, including galvanized, stainless steel, and aluminum, based on project requirements and specifications., • Set up and operate fabrication equipment such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers to cut, bend, and shape sheet metal components., • Perform metal finishing operations, including trimming, filing, grinding, deburring, and smoothing surfaces to produce clean, precise components., • Assemble components by welding, soldering, riveting, screwing, fastening, sealing, or bonding to create complete ductwork and HVAC assemblies., • Operate hand and power tools, including saws, grinders, drills, and routers, in a safe and efficient manner to support fabrication and installation tasks., • Inspect assemblies and completed installations for conformance to specifications, drawings, and quality standards, and correct deficiencies as needed., • Install HVAC duct systems and related components in various building types and locations, including new construction and tenant finish projects., • Coordinate with foremen, project managers, general contractors, and other trades to schedule work, resolve installation issues, and maintain acceptable job progress., • Provide direction to mechanics and helpers in the field to facilitate task completion and ensure efficient use of labor and materials., • Train new helpers through example and demonstration, promoting safe work habits and proper installation techniques., • Measure and order materials required for project completion, ensuring accurate quantities and timely delivery to the jobsite., • Coordinate labor for the installation of HVAC systems in an efficient and controlled manner to meet project schedules and quality expectations., • Adhere to industry and company standards regarding safety and installation practices while on the jobsite, including compliance with OSHA requirements., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including monitoring and maintaining clean work areas throughout the project., • Operate multiple types of access and material-handling equipment, such as scissor lifts, ladders, and similar devices, related to the installation of HVAC systems., • Complete necessary documentation, including timesheets, invoices, and electronic communications, in a thorough, accurate, and timely manner., • Perform regular vehicle maintenance checks to ensure safe and reliable transportation of personnel, tools, and materials to and from jobsites.Essential Skills, • High school diploma or equivalent., • 1+ years of hands-on experience as a sheet metal technician, mechanic, or installer in a commercial or industrial setting., • 3+ years of experience to qualify as a mechanic and 1+ year of experience to qualify as a helper., • 2+ years of related work experience for foreman-level responsibilities., • Ability to read and understand mechanical and architectural plans related to HVAC systems., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and shop drawings for ductwork and HVAC installations., • Working knowledge of HVAC systems, their components, and functions, including ductwork and associated equipment., • Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in sheet metal work and HVAC installation., • Proficiency in operating sheet metal fabrication equipment such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers., • Familiarity with HVAC duct installation and standard industry fabrication practices for commercial and industrial projects., • Skill in construction, sheet metal installation, sheet metal fabrication, and ductwork installation., • Ability to work with spiral duct and other mechanical sheet metal systems., • Valid Texas driver’s license., • OSHA 10 certification., • Reliable transportation and the ability to report to jobsites across the DFW metro area., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely., • Ability to work at heights using ladders, lifts, and other access equipment., • Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods while performing installation and fabrication tasks., • Commitment to jobsite safety and OSHA compliance.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • OSHA 30 certification., • Completion of a sheet metal apprenticeship or equivalent trade school program., • Experience with light welding, brazing, and soldering for sheet metal and HVAC components., • Forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift certifications., • Experience working on ground-up commercial construction projects., • Experience working on healthcare, data center, or industrial projects., • Experience conducting and overseeing the installation of HVAC systems and components on new construction and tenant finish jobsites., • Experience providing direction to mechanics and helpers and coordinating labor in the field., • Ability to measure and order materials accurately for HVAC and sheet metal projects., • Ability to complete timesheets, invoices, and electronic communications accurately and on time.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is field-based on commercial and industrial jobsites, including a new amphitheatre project in McKinney. You will work on new construction and tenant finish projects that involve air-cooled DX, condenser-water, and chilled-water systems. The environment includes active construction sites where you will regularly use hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal fabrication equipment such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers. You will also operate access equipment such as ladders and scissor lifts, and may work at heights and in varying weather conditions. The role requires travel to jobsites across the DFW metro area, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and following all site-specific and OSHA safety requirements. Attire should be appropriate for a construction jobsite, including suitable work clothing and safety gear as required by project conditions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Worth, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
