Job Description Hygiene support services assume the following roles: • Subject matter expert in industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety, and environmental health and safety. Program areas including but not limited to lead management, radon testing, water quality testing, asbestos management, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) management, indoor air quality, moisture intrusion, and mold., • Perform EHS or IH inspections, assessments, or investigations as needed and as directed. This shall include, but is not limited to asbestos, lead, drinking water, moisture, mold, radon, and indoor air quality inspections and assessments at the Denver Federal Center and within Region 8 facilities. Activities shall include inspection, assessment, sample collection, result interpretation, reporting, and providing recommended corrective actions., • Perform project management to support the development of Statements of Work, Independent Government Estimates, reviewing invoices and providing technical support for procurements and acquisitions of environmental health and industrial hygiene services., • Review asbestos, mold, lead abatement, assessment, remediation, and mitigation reports and workplans, provide comments, and ensure documents are complete and compliant per GSA requirements and regulations for these types of reports and confirm reports are final., • Perform industrial hygiene reviews and provide technical guidance for the completion of the investigation, assessment, abatement, mitigation, remediation, and monitoring for ongoing and future construction projects within Region 8., • Responds to industrial hygiene/health and safety events and/or emergencies in PBS facilities. Travel will be expected on an as needed basis and assume the role of a technical agent of GSA., • Conducts building inspections and facility risk assessments to ensure industrial hygiene, environmental, health and safety compliance., • Provides internal expertise, training, and customer service to building managers, property managers, lease asset managers, project managers, management, and other PBS personnel. Additional Duties specific to the Denver Federal Center and throughout GSA: • It is required to remain current with continuous learning and training for work to be performed., • Maintain competencies, certifications and licensure that apply as necessary in industry standards., • New tools or methods shall be approved by the direct support representative prior to use., • Keep employees current on all requirements and processes both in the federal government and in industry standards., • Demonstrated experience in industrial hygiene / environmental, health & safety practices and principles. Employees working on this contract must have sufficient training, experience, and related certifications. to be classified as an Industrial Hygienist., • IH is evolving rapidly. As such, tools, guidance documents, consensus industry standards and state-of-the-art practices are constantly changing. The expectation for services provided to GSA is to maintain proficiency in all areas of IH. The level of support must commensurate with the most recent standards in use by the industry. Education and additional skills: • Must have a Bachelor of Science (BS) in a science related field., • A minimum of eight years of progressively responsible technical experience in IH related to the duties of this position., • Knowledge of industrial hygiene sample collection and laboratory analytical methods, protocols, procedures, and analyses, • Demonstrated competency with Microsoft (MS) Office suite of tools., • Experience presenting and conveying technical information to non-technical audiences, such as with use of MS PowerPoint., • Good leadership, oral, and written skills., • Possess and maintain current State Certified Asbestos Building Inspector certification., • Possess and maintain current State Certified Asbestos Air Monitoring Specialist certification., • Possess and maintain an OSHA 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification with current 8-Hour refresher., • Possess and maintain a current State Certified Lead Inspector certification., • Enrolled in medical surveillance for HAZWOPER compliance and potential hazard materials (asbestos and lead) exposure and possess medical clearance to don respiratory protection in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.134., • Microsoft Windows Operating System, • Microsoft Office 365, • Google productivity applications, such as Google Mail, Calendar, Chat, Docs, Sheets, and Meet, • Adobe Acrobat Professional or Nuance PDF Converter
