Job DescriptionJob Title: General Production OperatorJob Description The General Production Operator plays a key role in safely producing and transferring liquid-based products within a fast-paced industrial environment. This position prepares and operates production machinery, moves product between rail cars, tanks, and tanker trucks, and performs basic data entry and recordkeeping to ensure accurate tracking of batches and quality metrics. Responsibilities • Prepare production machinery and equipment for operation, ensuring all systems are set up correctly before each batch., • Operate and connect valves and pumps to move liquid product between rail car tanks, mixing tanks, and tanker trucks as required for production., • Monitor key product parameters such as temperature, pH, and overall quality throughout the production process., • Transfer finished product to designated storage tanks in accordance with established procedures., • Unload and load trailers and rail cars with liquid-based product, following all safety and handling guidelines., • Operate a shag truck to transport trucks within the yard in a safe and efficient manner., • Perform simple data entry and paperwork upon completion of each batch to record production details and quality information., • Keep accurate records and logs associated with operations using the company’s computer system., • Inspect and use safety equipment correctly, following all safety rules and protocols at all times., • Work collaboratively with a small team on each shift to complete client orders the same day and support overall production goals., • Maintain a clean and organized work area and be prepared to work in both indoor tank areas and outdoor rail car areas., • Adapt to rotating shifts and changing work priorities while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.Essential Skills, • At least 2 years of experience in general production, general labor, or farmhand work., • Ability to lift and carry 50 to 75 pounds on a regular basis., • Minimum of 6 months of computer data entry experience, including basic use of production or logging systems., • Experience working in hands-on, physically demanding roles such as farmhand, machine operator, general labor, general production, or batch operator., • Comfort working in industrial environments that may be hot, dirty in summer, and cold in winter., • Ability to follow detailed safety procedures and properly use personal protective equipment., • Strong teamwork orientation and willingness to assist with a variety of tasks to meet daily production and client needs.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Background in chemical or agricultural production environments is preferred., • Experience in facilities such as energy, feed, ethanol, food production, or similar industrial operations is beneficial., • Familiarity with operating valves, pumps, and other production equipment used to move and mix liquid products., • Ability to work rotating overnight shifts and adjust to schedule changes with advance notice., • Comfort working both indoors and outdoors and bringing appropriate extra clothing for changing conditions., • Attention to detail in recordkeeping and quality monitoring, including tracking temperature, pH, and product specifications.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position operates on a 2nd overnight rotating shift from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Wednesday through Saturday, with every other Wednesday off. One week typically consists of 36 hours and the following week 48 hours. Shift changes may occur, and candidates receive advance notice before any change becomes more permanent. The work environment can be hot and dirty during the summer and cold during winter months. Operators work both inside on tanks and outside on rail cars and should be comfortable in varying conditions and prepared to bring extra clothes to change into as needed. Each shift includes about six people, fostering a flexible, team-oriented atmosphere focused on completing client work the same day. The dress code allows jeans (no shorts) and t-shirts with sleeves, with the expectation that clothing may get dirty and that extra clothes may be needed. Personal protective equipment includes hard hats and safety glasses, which are provided, and steel-toed boots. Steel-toed rubber boots similar to rain boots are also provided for use in appropriate areas. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Des Moines, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $43680.00 - $43680.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
