Job DescriptionDescription: Job Purpose The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all pool patrons by preventing drowning and other injuries. This role requires vigilance in identifying hazardous situations or behaviors and responding effectively in emergencies. The Lifeguard must enforce pool policies, maintain a clean and safe environment, and communicate effectively with a diverse population. Critical thinking, decision-making, and a strong commitment to safety are essential Duties and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. · Actively monitor and scan the pool area at all times, refraining from socializing while on duty. · Recognize and respond effectively to emergency situations by activating the Emergency Action Plan (EAP). · Communicate and enforce all facility and pool policies in a professional and personable manner. · Maintain proper dress and appearance per facility standards, including wearing a swimsuit, guard shirt, whistle, and rescue tube while on duty. · Conduct routine pool inspections, complete chemical logs, and report any imbalances or concerns to the supervisor. · Utilize proper radio communication protocols to coordinate with the front desk, building managers, and direct supervisors. · Record daily participation numbers and complete assigned cleaning tasks. · Attend and participate in regular in-service trainings to maintain skills and knowledge. · Provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all pool patrons. · Document and report any incidents, injuries, or rule violations. · Ensure cleanliness and organization of work areas, including pool deck, changing rooms, restrooms, and showers. · Monitor and organize poolside games and activities. · Successfully pass a background check. Skills and Qualifications · Must be a minimum of 16 years of age. · Minimum of 2 years of experience in a customer service or aquatic-related role preferred. · Current Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications required. · Strong ability to react quickly and efficiently in emergency situations, including lifting and assisting individuals in distress. · Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. · Ability to remain alert and attentive while standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods. · Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with a diverse group of patrons. Working Conditions • Environment: Primarily works outdoors in an open pool setting, exposed to various weather conditions, including heat, sun, wind, and occasional inclement weather., • Physical Requirements: Requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
