Job Description Job Title: Skilled Laborer – Carpenter Job Description This role focuses on carpentry work in commercial construction, including framing with metal and wood studs, as well as hanging and finishing drywall. You will build and install walls, ceilings, stairs, windows, and doors while working from blueprints and ensuring high-quality, safe workmanship on every project. Responsibilities • Frame structures using metal and wood studs in accordance with project specifications and building codes., • Hang and finish drywall to a high standard, including taping, mudding, sanding, and preparing surfaces for final finishes., • Build and install interior and exterior walls, ceilings, stairs, windows, and doors on commercial construction projects., • Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, and layout plans to complete framing and finishing tasks accurately., • Perform concrete and cement-related tasks, including forming and preparing areas for pours when needed., • Use carpentry tools such as carpenter’s squares, hammers, screw guns, tape measures, and saws safely and effectively., • Install blocking and other structural supports as required for framing and finishing work., • Follow OSHA safety standards and company safety procedures at all times on the job site., • Work collaboratively with crews of 5–10 team members to complete projects on schedule., • At least 4+ years of experience performing framing and finishing, including drywall hanging and finishing., • Strong carpentry skills with proven experience in commercial construction environments., • Expert ability using a carpenter’s square, hammer, screw guns, tape measures, and saws., • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction drawings., • Hands-on experience with concrete, cement, and forming work., • Ability to perform blocking, framing, and drywall tasks with precision and attention to detail., • OSHA 10 certification or equivalent OSHA safety training., • Experience working on commercial construction projects in similar roles., • Broad carpentry experience, including both rough and finish carpentry., • Comfort working with a variety of tools and equipment commonly used in framing, concrete, and drywall work., • Ability to collaborate effectively within crews of varying sizes and follow direction from site leadership. Work Environment You will work in commercial construction environments across the Syracuse, NY area, primarily on active job sites. Typical crews consist of 5–10 employees, fostering a team-oriented atmosphere with experienced colleagues and long-tenured staff. Standard hours run from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with the potential for overtime depending on project needs. The dress code includes work pants or jeans and appropriate personal protective equipment, such as a hard hat and steel-toe footwear, to ensure safety on site. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Syracuse, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.
