Job Description The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. While located within the raceway, the Museum is operated separately from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum brings to life the innovation, thrill, and cultural significance of motor racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Our vision for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum is to ignite curiosity, spark discovery, and embrace tradition. Position Summary: The AV / IT Technician is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and de-installation of audio, video, lighting, and networking hardware for Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum's world-renowned exhibitions and experiences. These include the new permanent exhibitions and spaces at the Museum and our temporary/rotating exhibitions. The AV / IT Technician will be responsible for the ongoing installation, deinstallation, hardware maintenance and support of each exhibit to ensure zero downtime. They are a subject matter expert in AV, Lighting, and IT solutions that are required to exhibitions. Additionally, the AV / IT Technician will work closely with our third-party IT managed service provider, EXOS IT, to troubleshoot problems and escalate to EXOS IT technicians as appropriate. This position will be required to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends. Preferred work schedule from Thursday – Monday. Specific Duties: • Exhibit AV Support and Maintenance, • Ensure proper functioning of audio, video, lighting and control systems in exhibit and gallery spaces, including but not limited to exhibitions, immersive experiences, and guest facing technology., • Gain a deep understanding of sitewide Audio, Video, Lighting and networking systems and assist in coordination with integration partners., • Perform daily maintenance, repairs, and minor system updates as needed., • Troubleshoot problems to maintain zero downtime as self-performance or with third-party service providers., • Serve as the point of contact with third-party service providers., • Leverage industry experience to streamline operating procedures (SOPs) and practices., • Work directly with Exhibit and Programming Teams to advise technical design and operation of new exhibits and events., • Set up, operate, maintain necessary AV for events., • Collaborate directly with other departments to ensure all spaces function as intended daily, as well as before, during, and after events occur., • Provide cross training to designated staff of daily SOPs to perform checks of systems and displays., • Administrative IT, • Troubleshoot IT problems and recommend escalation to EXOS IT as needed., • Work with EXOS IT to set up technology for new staff, • Set up workstations for new staff., • Assigning and auditing employee access control., • Serve as technology expert for TEAMS meeting room, • Reporting and Data Management, • Maintain complete inventory of all Audio, Video, and Control equipment., • Tracks and reports all maintenance and service requests to identify patterns and trends and reduce potential upcoming risks or failures., • Works with the EXOS IT team to ensure network provided issues are reported and resolved., • Recommend hardware upgrades and monitor lifecycles and warranties., • Preventative Maintenance, • inspecting the entire audiovisual system to ensure that all components are working properly., • Checking the cabling, power supply, and any other accessories or equipment used in the system., • Cleaning fan and air intake., • Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred, in IT, AV, or a related area., • Experience working in interactive educational settings, museums, science centers, or guest-focused environments., • Experience with Qsys, 7thSense, Epson and Absen systems a plus, • DMX, sACN, theatrical lighting fixtures and networks, and track lighting experience a plus, • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts., • In-depth knowledge of audio, video, lighting systems, and IT technology., • Familiarity with museum exhibition design a plus., • The ability to prioritize and work under pressure is essential., • Knowledge of operating systems (i.e. TEAMS, Outlook, Zoom), • Knowledge of current products and trends in audio, video, lighting, and show control, • Understanding of industry best practices, • Ability to interact positively and productively with teams across organizational lines, • Able to install, maintain, and operate AV equipment; use power tools; lift heavy loads up to 50 lbs.; and work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, or lifts The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly required to stand and walk within a limited footprint for extended periods of time., • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly required to sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone., • Specific vision abilities required include close vision requirements due to computer work., • Light to moderate lifting (11-50 lbs.) may be required.
