Position Overview: The Program team builds a culture of volunteerism and civic engagement in Chicago. The team is responsible for volunteer engagement and capacity building models that diversify service opportunities, advance civic action in our city, and help volunteers find, champion and lead on causes about which they care. The team is a catalyst for change by promoting diverse civic action opportunities and equipping organizations and corporations, small and large, and civic leaders, young and old, to build a more vibrant and equitable Chicago. Through the Program teams, Chicago Cares: • Diversifies civic action in partnership with organizations that provide pathways to deeper engagement in service, philanthropy, voice, vote and collective action., • Develops leadership across the corporate, non-profit, and civic landscape and cultivates volunteers for civic leadership., • Strengthens the non-profit and corporate sectors strategic use of volunteers through capacity building engagements, consulting, and employee engagement opportunities., • Connects volunteers, across lines of difference, to community-led and collective impact change efforts., • Builds empathy and a deeper understanding of the assets and challenges of Chicagos neighborhoods., • Cultivates and inspires volunteers to serve in new and different ways. The Volunteer Outreach Coordinator is vital for fostering community engagement and building a more connected and equitable society. The Volunteer Outreach Coordinator is responsible for managing and cultivating relationships and programs that engage volunteers, nonprofits, and stakeholders in service and strengthening the strategic use of volunteers through capacity-building engagements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Relationship and Account Management:, • Volunteer Strategy: Participate in planning, strategy setting, implementation and reporting on annual projections for volunteer relationships and development., • Volunteer Cultivation, Solicitation, and Stewardship: Strategically communicate Chicago Cares impact to prospective and current volunteers (including leaders and leader prospects), in order to move them towards greater civic engagement. Steward volunteers (including leaders and leader prospects) through the entire continuum of experiences with Chicago Cares, including efforts to ensure all engagement, cultivation and fundraising goals are met through Chicago Cares initiatives., • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Support interdepartmental teams as they relate to projects pertaining to volunteer community building, volunteer leadership development, and volunteer engagement in co-design and collaborative fundraising strategies. Support project teams assigned to the execution of strategic projects, work closely with program staff to coordinate project planning efforts, and ensure volunteer, partner and community needs are met. Ensure the health and relevance of engagements and manage standards collaboratively with other managers., • CRM Data Management: Enter and track information on volunteers and build and generate reports within the donor CRM database (Salesforce) that support effective strategy and relationship management., • Collecting, entering, and communicating data for projects, including attendance logs for volunteers, evaluative data, expenses and survey results., • Utilize data management systems to review, edit, and post volunteer projects., • Other administrative and project support, as needed., • Outreach, Prospecting, and External Relations, • Volunteer Prospecting: Identify opportunities for new volunteer (including leaders and leader prospects) Build network of prospective volunteers (including leaders and leader prospects) pipelines and innovate and implement campaigns to recruit a diverse base of volunteers., • Outreach: Conduct outreach including, but not limited to, phone calls, text messages, direct messaging, and email to prospective, current, and returning volunteers, volunteer leaders, and sector partners., • Positionality and Growth: Know Chicago Cares constituents and environment and steward, cultivate, and grow the number of volunteers that engage and invest in Chicago Cares. Develop an awareness of the landscape in our city and sectors that provide opportunities for volunteer civic leadership, particularly among community lead agencies and structural change organizations., • Project Management, • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of volunteer (including leaders and leader prospects) strategy, projects, and solutions. Conform activities to the organizations policies and practices, processes, and structures to best and emerging practices and the impact story. Participate in the organizations continuous quality improvement processes around volunteer strategies and technology integrations., • Organizational Leadership, • Advance brand identity by reinforcing strategic messages and organizational values., • Contribute to and execute strategic vision and plans., • Provide support for large projects and special events, including event planning and implementation assistance. Complete other duties as assigned. Requirements • Access to reliable transportation, • Ability to work collaboratively with our staff, corporate partners, community partners, and volunteers, • Comfort and experience with administrative tasks like data input, email communications, phone communications, supply ordering and inventory, etc., • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills, • Comfort taking initiative to ensure strong volunteer experiences and quality of all program efforts, • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and engage in physical labor associated with loading, unloading and moving project supplies, • Ability to drive a cargo van or box truck to make project supply deliveries, • Previous volunteer management or event planning experience a plus, • Outstanding relationship building and networking skills and demonstrated success building and sustaining partner relationships in person, on the phone, and virtually., • Demonstrated commitment to service, civic engagement, and/or social justice. Desire to support and nurture programs that connect people, communities, and causes., • Ease and experience working with individuals and groups from diverse cultural, ethnic, and geographic backgrounds. Ability to practice creativity and flexibility., • Ability to take initiative, work independently, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects in a rapidly changing, agile environment including interruptions and adjustments to priorities., • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with ability to make effective oral presentations to large and small groups and write clearly and persuasively., • PC and desktop application skills, including Microsoft Suite, Office 365, SharePoint and Teams. Experience with Salesforce preferred., • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule that may require work outside of traditional hours, including the ability to work evenings and weekends., • Ability to adjust to various physical and environmental conditions as the position may require (computer work, sitting or standing for long periods of time, etc.). Additional Information: The ideal candidate will be able to work an average of 20 hours a week (typically between the hours of 9AM to 9PM) with evening and weekend assignments. The work schedule is directly related to business demand: therefore, week-to-week assignments vary. This position includes travel within Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. Salary and Benefits This is a part-time, non-exempt, hourly position at $19 per hour, with an average of 20 hours per week. Position Location This offer is contingent on the successful completion of the pre-employment process and compliance with Chicago Cares Residency Policy, which states: employees are expected to establish and maintain residency in the Chicago Metropolitan Region and maintain residency throughout their employment with Chicago Cares.
