Job Description Position: Nurse Manager, RN Location: Southwood Interventions | 5701 S. Wood Street | Chicago, IL 60636 Salary Range: $95,000 to $125,000 Annually Job Type: Full-time Purpose: The position promotes good health, treats minor medical problems, responds to medical emergencies, administers medications, and ensures that the medical needs of clients are addressed. The position assists in the assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of nursing care under the direction of the appropriate medical staff member. Shift: Monday - Friday | DAYS Nurse Manager Summary This position is responsible for providing leadership and direction for operational planning, allocation of resources (staff, supplies, equipment and space), the development of service delivery standards, and the integration of quality improvement initiatives and risk management for health and behavioral health services throughout the region. This position plays an active role in professional education, developing and implementing strategies to address utilization, and providing leadership and support. Duties and Responsibilities The successful applicant should be able to perform ALL the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements. • Under the supervision of and in collaboration with appropriate medical staff members (i.e. physician or registered nurse) and assists with the medical treatment of clients by ensuring the components of the nursing process are effectively applied., • Supervises, assists with hiring, and evaluates staff performance, develops measurable objectives for necessary improvements and implements appropriate corrective action to staff adhering to human resources policies and utilizing Human Resources when necessary., • Selects, schedules, assigns, and evaluates staff members as well as adjusts hours and shifts as needed., • Makes appropriate referrals to the contracted physician(s) and other medical agencies or practitioners, • Administers physician-prescribed and non-prescribed medications and requisitions., • Controls and maintains adequate inventory of drugs and medical supplies., • Responds to all medical emergencies and works "on-call" shifts to provide emergency assistance as needed., • Maintains all medical documentation, medical history, and files on each client as well abides by HIPAA compliance rules and regulations., • Develops and maintains policies and procedures in accordance with all applicable state, federal, local, licensing standards, and regulatory agencies., • Assists in the development and implementation of nursing-related performance improvement activities., • Provides staff member training to include CPR, first aid, universal precautions, medication side effects, and other appropriate topics., • Participates in health training of clients and participates in clinical activities as needed., • Coordinates with community service agencies, as required, to ensure routine and emergency medical care for clients and staff members., • Monitors medically related contract services for compliance with provisions and coordinates with external agencies or contract vendors to ensure appropriate medical care., • Promotes good health habits, hygiene, and nutrition with all clients., • Communicates all pertinent client related medical information to program/facility staff members per HIPPA related rules and regulations, • Maintains compliance with company exposure plans to include OSHA, and bloodborne pathogens., • Supports the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care., • Demonstrates appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills.Minimum Requirements, • Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the state in which this position is located., • Three (3) years of nursing experience, including at least one (1) year as a nurse manager or director. Experience working with at-risk population preferred., • Experience in the management of multi-disciplinary clinical programs and delivery of services in a multi-cultural environment is desirable., • Knowledge of pertinent accreditation bodies such as JCAHO is desirable., • Ability to speak clearly when interacting with others in person or while on the telephone. Must be able to ask questions when assignments are unclear or ambiguous., • Ability to complete assignments accurately and within the given deadlines., • Ability to work independently and in group settings. Must be willing to lead the work of others., • Working knowledge of all software applications used by the supported group.
