Job Description Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM start (reliable attendance required shipping / warehouse deadline-driven) Pay: $21–$26/hr DOE Top of range: for candidates with proven freight coordination, documentation discipline, Sage / order-system experience, and strong attendance / punctuality. Role Summary We’re hiring a detail-driven Shipping & Logistics Coordinator to manage daily outbound and inbound shipping workflow. This role handles freight coordination, delivery qualification, shipping paperwork, Sage 50 notes and attachments, warehouse coordination, tracking, and customer / carrier communication. This is not just a clerical role. The right person must be organized, dependable, detail-oriented, strong with follow-through, and consistently on time. Key Responsibilities • Coordinate LTL, FTL, local delivery, will-call, and direct-ship orders, • Verify shipping addresses and site conditions using Google Maps / Street View, • Confirm commercial vs residential, dock / no dock, forklift / liftgate, limited access, and appointment requirements before booking freight, • Request, compare, and organize freight quotes, • Negotiate with brokers and carriers for best-fit pricing, transit time, and service reliability, • Enter clear shipping notes and upload documents into Sage 50, • Print and organize packing slips, packing detail sheets, labels, BOLs, and shipping backup, • Maintain clean shipment records, notes, attachments, and backup documentation, • Coordinate with warehouse, customers, carriers, brokers, Accounting, and Orders, • Follow up on tracking, appointments, PODs, redelivery issues, and freight exceptions, • Process shipment paperwork and labels using FedEx, UPS, and related shipping systems when needed Required Qualifications • 2+ years in shipping, logistics, dispatch, freight coordination, order processing, or operations, • Experience with LTL / FTL freight, • Strong Excel, Outlook, and computer skills, • Strong written and verbal communication, • Reliable attendance and punctuality are mandatory, • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, • Able to manage multiple orders and moving parts without losing details, • Comfortable working in a deadline-driven office / warehouse environment, • Experience with Sage 50 / Peachtree, QuickBooks, or another order / invoice system Preferred Qualifications • Experience with FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip, or similar desktop shipping software, • Experience negotiating freight rates and service terms with brokers and carriers, • Experience with packing documentation, BOLs, PODs, and freight tracking, • Experience coordinating with warehouse staff, trucking companies, and brokers, • Experience in building materials, construction products, distribution, or manufacturing is a plus, • Bilingual English / Spanish is a plus What Will Make Someone Successful in This Role The right person: • is organized and detail-driven, • follows through without constant reminders, • communicates clearly with customers, carriers, brokers, and internal teams, • keeps notes, attachments, and shipping backup clean and complete, • catches delivery issues before they become bigger problems, • can handle pressure without getting sloppy What Will Not Work This role is not a fit for someone who: • is frequently late or unreliable, • has weak follow-through, • cannot keep notes and shipping paperwork organized, • gets overwhelmed easily by multiple open orders, • does not communicate well with brokers, carriers, and customers, • is careless with shipment details, access notes, or freight paperwork Work Environment Fully remodeled offices located within our 25,000 sq ft warehouse and distribution center, plus an employee lunch room/break area.
