Job DescriptionJob Title: Paint Line Prep Laborer (Racker)Job Description This role focuses on preparing metal parts for a production paint line by masking, racking, and inspecting components throughout the painting process. You will handle parts of varying sizes and weights, ensure accurate masking and paint coverage, and support a fast-paced manufacturing environment with consistent quality and safety. Responsibilities • Prepare metal parts for the paint line by applying tape and plugs to mask and plug holes according to specifications., • Handle parts of varying sizes, including lifting and moving components weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis., • Rack prepped parts onto the paint line, ensuring secure placement and proper spacing for optimal paint coverage., • Unrack parts after painting and perform detailed visual inspections to verify paint accuracy, coverage, and quality., • Confirm that masked and plugged areas remain properly protected during the painting process and meet quality standards., • Remove masking materials and plugs after painting and prepare finished parts for packaging., • Use basic power tools and sanding equipment as needed to support paint preparation and finishing., • Follow production schedules and work instructions to meet daily output and quality targets., • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including racks, tools, and equipment used in the paint line process., • Adhere to all safety procedures, including proper use of safety boots, safety glasses, and other required protective equipment., • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to address issues quickly and support continuous improvement in the paint line process., • Be available to work overtime as needed, including occasional Fridays and rare Saturdays, to meet production demands.Essential Skills, • 1–2 years of manufacturing experience in racking, paint preparation, or general labor within a production environment., • Demonstrated stable work history with a consistent employment record., • Ability to lift and handle 30–50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift., • Comfort working in a non-temperature-controlled environment, including hot conditions in the paint department during summer months., • Willingness to work overtime as needed, including some Fridays and very occasional Saturdays., • Strong attention to detail for visual inspection of painted parts and masked areas., • Ability to use basic power tools and sanding equipment safely and effectively., • Reliable attendance and punctuality for assigned shifts., • Positive attitude and alignment with a collaborative, safety-focused culture.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with paint prep, masking, and racking in a metal manufacturing or precision fabrication environment., • Background in general production or metal fabrication operations., • Familiarity with visual quality inspection in a manufacturing setting., • Comfort working on different shifts as needed, including first and second shift opportunities., • Interest in long-term growth within a full-service metal manufacturing operation.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a metal manufacturing facility with a dedicated paint department and production paint line. There are five openings in total: four on first shift and one on second shift. Two first-shift roles are temporary, two first-shift roles are temp-to-hire, and the second-shift role is temp-to-hire. First shift runs from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and second shift runs from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with potential overtime on Fridays and very rarely on Saturdays. The environment is not temperature-controlled and can be hot in the summer, especially in the paint area. Work involves frequent lifting of 30–50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and using power tools, sanding equipment, and racking systems. Safety is a priority, with safety boots and safety glasses required and supported through reimbursement programs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Roseville, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
