Job DescriptionJob Title: Mechanical Assembler Job Description The Mechanical Assembler performs mechanical assembly and maintenance on large generators in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment. This role uses a wide range of hand and power tools, follows detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures, and supports troubleshooting and diagnostics using manufacturer-specific software for engines and control systems. Responsibilities • Perform mechanical assembly on large generators according to work instructions and standard operating procedures., • Use a variety of hand and power tools to assemble, adjust, and secure components., • Read and interpret work instructions, SOPs, and blueprints or engineering drawings to complete assembly tasks accurately., • Perform maintenance and repair tasks on generators as needed., • Assist with diagnosing engine and control system issues using manufacturer-specific software after appropriate training., • Operate overhead cranes safely to move and position large components during assembly., • Use measurement tools such as tape measures and torque wrenches to verify accuracy and proper torque specifications., • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with tools, equipment, and overhead cranes., • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area., • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and quality standards.Essential Skills, • At least 1 year of mechanical assembly experience., • At least 1 year of experience operating an overhead crane., • Proficiency using hand and power tools in a manufacturing or mechanical environment., • Ability to read and follow SOPs, work instructions, or blueprints., • Ability to accurately use measuring tools such as tape measures and torque wrenches., • Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of assembly processes., • Ability to learn and use manufacturer-specific software for engine and control system diagnostics., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship., • Ability to follow safety procedures and operate equipment safely.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience using micrometers, scales, pressure gauges, torque wrenches, measuring tapes, and electric meters (volts, ohms, amps)., • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints or engineering drawings., • Background as an automotive technician, diesel technician, motor assembler, HVAC technician, or similar mechanical trade., • Comfort working with diagnostic tools and measurement instruments., • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment working with large generators and related equipment. Team members regularly use hand and power tools, measurement devices such as tape measures and torque wrenches, and overhead cranes to move heavy components. The position follows a structured shift schedule, with a first shift from 5:00 AM to 2:30 PM and a second shift from 2:00 PM to 12:30 AM. The environment emphasizes safety, precision, and adherence to documented procedures while working on complex mechanical assemblies. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
