WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Please note, that this is a temporary position. As a temporary Youth Enrichment Coordinator (YEC), you will assume a dynamic and pivotal role in fostering the growth and development of young residents at the designated affordable housing site. Your core responsibility encompasses adeptly managing and supervising the Homework Club, serving as a crucial pillar of academic support for the youth. Beyond this, you will orchestrate a diverse array of enriching activities that not only captivate young minds but also nurture their holistic development. Through your leadership, the youth living within the permanent supportive housing community will be provided with a nurturing environment that encourages educational achievement and life skills. In your capacity as YEC, you will act as a catalyst for inspiration and positive change. Your keen organizational prowess will ensure the seamless coordination of the Homework Club, providing a haven for young minds to explore their academic pursuits under your guidance. Additionally, you will curate a vibrant array of youth enrichment activities that tap into their interests and passions, fostering a sense of curiosity, camaraderie, and personal growth. By championing a holistic approach to youth development, you will impact their current experiences and play an instrumental role in shaping their future trajectories, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive academically, socially, and beyond. Supervisory Responsibility: None WHAT WILL YOU DO: Youth Enrichment: • Manage and oversee the Afterschool Program during the school year. Key tasks include assessing academic and non-academic youth needs, planning academic enrichment, preparing a healthy snack, delivering a child safety/character-building curriculum, supporting youth to complete homework and overcome academic gaps, and providing guidance and support to volunteers., • Work with parents to support youth academic success. This includes working alongside parents with educators and administrators at local schools to support youth to be as successful as possible. Work with adults on their own academic goals, as needed., • Assess youth progress against academic benchmarks, focusing especially on growth in reading, math, and social development. Provide reports and outcome summaries as requested., • Based on assessments and in communication with parents and teachers, develop and deliver individualized activities to support the academic progress of each youth. Develop and deliver specific social skill-building activities to be used with all youth in the afterschool program., • Plan and implement summer activities for youth and teens during the summer months when the Afterschool Program is suspended. In collaboration with the Volunteer and Donation Coordinator, partner with volunteers and community partners to implement summer programming., • In collaboration with the Clinical Services Manager, maintain updated curriculum and program materials, including teen and pre-K programming. Stay up to date with the best practices for enhancing the academic abilities and social skills of the population served. Youth and Family Support: • In collaboration with the service team and community partners, develop and support community activities for youth and their families. (Some of these tasks may involve weekend and evening hours.) Collaborate with mental health clinicians and interns to ensure youth have access to appropriate mental health support as needed, including EPSDT services., • Develop and present college preparation materials to youth and their families, starting in elementary school. Provide college application support and career/work resources for youth interested in college and/or employment after high school., • Develop and deliver programs to support parenting and parent engagement in collaboration with the service team. Cultural Responsiveness: • Awareness of and aptitude to understand, respect, and adapt to cultural and identity-based differences within group environments appropriately and effectively., • Experience fostering and reinforcing an environment that values unique experiences, cultures, personal humility, authenticity, backgrounds, and goals., • Participate in and complete our new employee onboarding process, which includes reading and discussing a short chapter in the book, The Color of Law. Organizational/Administrative Responsibilities: • Professionally represent Hope Solutions in all circumstances., • Comply with all legal/ethical professional guidelines for maintaining consumer confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA guidelines, protecting consumer rights, advocating on consumers behalf, and assuring consumer safety., • Establish and maintain professional boundaries in working with clients., • Comply with all local, state, and federal regulations, policies, procedures, standards of practice, and outcome requirements of the Supportive Housing Program and Hope Solutions., • Provide monthly attendance reports and other outcome summaries as requested., • Collaborate with mental health clinicians and interns to ensure youth access to appropriate mental health support as needed, including EPSDT services., • Develop and deliver parenting education in collaboration with the service team., • Attend program development meetings with the Director of Operations., • Professionally represent Hope Solutions in all circumstances., • On-call, after-hours, and backup work may be required., • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Position Qualifications: • A Bachelors Degree in education, teaching certification, and/or experience with students with special needs is a plus., • A minimum of two (2) years experience working with youth of varying ages in a classroom setting and experience supervising volunteers., • Experience with low-income and disenfranchised populations is desired., • Excellent communication and coordination skills are required., • Flexibility regarding work hours. Spanish speaking is required depending on the location of the program., • Must pass LiveScan screening and TB test., • Salary contingent upon skill and experience. Physical Qualifications: • The person in this position may make home visits to consumers who live on second or third-floor apartments (without elevators) and will need to be able to climb stairs., • May accompany consumers on walks to local resources (grocery store, childcare, parks) up to mile in distance., • Must be able to work in a desk setting for up to 3 hours at a time to make calls to consumers, research resources on the internet, and collaborate with community providers with calls/emails., • Office setting activities are required, such as typing on a laptop/computer to respond to emails, entering case notes into a database, and copying/faxing forms and documents on a copy machine related to maintaining or obtaining housing., • Occasionally must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds, including furnishings for new residents, files, holiday gifts, and food donations., • Ability to drive an automobile and transport oneself and consumers to appointments or meet at consumer homes, including driving at night.
