Job Description Job Title: Bench Avionics Technician If interested and qualified, reach out to Caroline at 843/972/1883 Job Description This role focuses on component-level troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft avionics systems in a dedicated bench repair environment. You will diagnose and repair avionics components at the board and circuit level, with a strong emphasis on navigation systems, while working with detailed technical documentation and calibrated test equipment. The position suits someone with strong electronics fundamentals, hands-on bench experience, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high quality and safety standards. Responsibilities • Perform component-level troubleshooting, repair, and functional testing of avionics equipment in a bench environment., • Diagnose failures down to the circuit board, component, and micro-electronic level, including both surface-mount and through-hole technologies., • Repair, modify, replace, and rework electronic components using approved methods, tools, and documentation., • Test and align avionics units using test benches, simulators, and calibrated electronic test equipment., • Work extensively on navigation systems such as GPS, VHF NAV/COM, ILS, DME, and related line-replaceable units (LRUs)., • Interpret and follow electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs), Structural Repair Manuals (SRMs), and manufacturer documentation., • Accurately document all work performed in accordance with FAA repair station procedures and quality standards., • Identify recurring failures, trends, or issues and recommend corrective actions or process improvements., • Assemble, repair, and rework wiring harnesses and electronic assemblies as required., • Perform precise soldering, desoldering, crimping, and electronic assembly tasks in line with industry best practices., • 3+ years of experience as a bench avionics technician performing component-level repairs., • Proven experience troubleshooting navigation avionics systems such as GPS, NAV/COM, ILS, and related equipment., • Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics principles., • Hands-on experience with soldering, desoldering, and rework of surface-mount and through-hole components., • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, and wiring harness drawings., • Proficiency in using oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and other electronic test and measurement equipment., • Experience with electronic repair, crimping, wiring, and electronic assembly techniques., • Familiarity with FAA repair station processes and quality standards., • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high attention to detail., • FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL)., • Experience working in an FAA Part 145 repair station., • Manufacturer training on common avionics platforms such as Garmin, Collins, Honeywell, or BendixKing., • Basic knowledge of autopilot, flight control, or flight management systems., • IPC soldering certification or similar electronics certification., • Experience with wiring harness fabrication and repair. Work Environment This position is based in a bench-focused avionics repair shop, with no aircraft line maintenance responsibilities. You will work with standard shop equipment, calibrated test stations, and a variety of electronic test instruments in a controlled indoor environment. The schedule runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, providing a consistent daytime work routine. The environment emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and safety at the workbench, supporting careful handling of sensitive electronic components and assemblies. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Hialeah, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
