Job DescriptionJob Title: Field Technician Job Description The Field Technician installs, services, and repairs industrial pumps and valves in both shop and field environments. This role combines hands-on mechanical work, frequent use of hand and power tools, and on-site support at power plants alongside experienced technicians. The position suits someone with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys physical, fast-paced work and is interested in developing into a specialized valve technician through structured training and certifications. Responsibilities • Service, repair, and assemble industrial valves and pumps in a shop and field setting., • Use basic hand and air tools, including impact wrenches, air grinders, drills, and torches, to perform mechanical tasks safely and efficiently., • Disassemble pumps and valves, inspect components, and perform mechanical repairs or replacements as directed., • Support mechanical assembly and repair work as a mechanical helper, following instructions from lead technicians and supervisors., • After training, travel into the field with a lead technician to perform assembly and service duties at power plants., • Assist with installation, maintenance, and service of equipment in industrial environments, including during outages and peak periods., • Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and working in loud, dirty, and industrial conditions., • Maintain a clean and organized work area in the shop and at customer sites, ensuring tools and equipment are used and stored properly., • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with tools, machinery, and industrial equipment., • Adapt to varying work schedules, including longer shifts during outages and occasional weekend on-call assignments., • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks, report issues, and support efficient completion of work orders.Essential Skills, • 2+ years of experience using hand and power tools in a work setting., • 1+ years of mechanical work experience in areas such as automotive, service, or manufacturing., • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and interest in mechanical assembly and repair., • Experience performing physical labor in construction, industrial, military, or similar environments., • Ability to use basic hand and air tools, including impact wrenches, air grinders, drills, and torches., • Capability to perform physically demanding work in loud, dirty, and industrial environments., • Willingness and ability to travel to field sites as required., • Flexibility to work varying hours, including early starts, extended 12-hour days during outages, and some weekend on-call shifts., • Strong commitment to following safety procedures and working safely with tools and equipment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Background in installation or service work in industrial, construction, or related fields., • Experience working in a shop environment or industrial facility., • Prior exposure to power plants, pumps, or valve systems is beneficial., • Military experience involving mechanical, maintenance, or physical labor is a plus., • Interest in obtaining valve technician certifications and advancing into more specialized technical roles., • Ability to work effectively as part of a team under the guidance of a lead technician.Why Work Here? Work Environment You work primarily in a valve shop environment and at industrial power plant sites across regions such as Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia. The shop and field settings are loud, dirty, and industrial, and you should be comfortable getting dirty and working around heavy equipment. The role is physically demanding and involves regular use of hand and air tools, including impact wrenches, air grinders, drills, and torches. Travel to field locations is required, and you work alongside lead technicians during on-site assignments. Work hours vary; on some days you work a standard schedule around 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, while during outages you may work 12-hour shifts. Some weekend on-call availability is required to support customer needs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
