Job Description Location: Woodbury, MN Job Type: Full-Time Compensation: Competitive Salary + Performance Incentive + Benefits About the Opportunity: A growing transportation and operational services organization is seeking an experienced Rail Terminal Manager to oversee a high-volume service location. This role is responsible for operational performance, workforce management, customer satisfaction, safety compliance, employee development, and financial oversight. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience managing teams, operational metrics, service delivery, and business performance. Operations & Site Performance: • Lead daily operations to ensure safe, efficient, and productive service delivery., • Monitor operational metrics, workforce utilization, productivity, and overall site performance., • Maintain accountability for operational performance and financial objectives., • Serve as a hands-on leader who actively supports field operations when business needs require., • Drive execution of company initiatives while maintaining operational excellence., • Ensure operational resources are utilized effectively to meet performance expectations., • Analyze performance trends and implement solutions to improve efficiency and service quality., • Maintain focus on customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and operational success. Team Leadership & Engagement: • Recruit, train, coach, and develop frontline employees and supervisors., • Foster a culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and performance., • Support employee retention and engagement initiatives., • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development., • Address employee relations matters professionally and consistently., • Ensure staffing levels align with operational requirements and business demands., • Lead onboarding, orientation, and ongoing training efforts., • Build a positive workplace culture focused on employee success. Financial & Administrative Oversight: • Manage operating expenses and maintain budget accountability., • Review payroll, scheduling, attendance, and workforce utilization., • Maintain accurate operational records and reporting., • Monitor expenditures and ensure responsible allocation of resources., • Analyze operational trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements., • Prepare reports and provide updates to senior leadership as needed. Customer & Partner Relations: • Build strong relationships with customers, vendors, and operational partners., • Serve as a primary point of contact for local service concerns and operational matters., • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure service expectations are achieved., • Promote a customer-focused culture throughout the operation., • Support long-term partnerships through communication, responsiveness, and service excellence. Operational Performance: • Monitor productivity, workforce performance, service levels, and operational effectiveness., • Utilize data, reporting, and key performance indicators to drive decision-making., • Implement process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce costs., • Ensure operational standards are consistently achieved., • Promote accountability and continuous improvement throughout the operation., • Identify opportunities to improve employee performance, service quality, and business results. Safety & Operational Compliance: • Promote a culture of safety and operational discipline., • Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and workplace standards., • Maintain readiness to support changing operational demands., • Conduct regular reviews to ensure workplace standards are upheld., • Support a safe and professional work environment., • Ensure employees understand and follow established procedures and expectations., • Travel occasionally as business needs require. Qualifications: Required Experience: • 7+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, intermodal operations, terminal operations, fleet operations, supply chain, distribution, industrial services, or related operational leadership environments., • 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams in a fast-paced operational setting., • Experience managing workforce scheduling, labor planning, performance metrics, budgets, customer relationships, and service delivery., • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams while maintaining productivity, safety, and operational standards. Preferred Education: • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation Management, or related field preferred. Skills & Abilities: • Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills., • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities., • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills., • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment., • Experience utilizing KPIs, operational metrics, and performance reporting., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business systems., • Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required., • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions., • Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods., • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds., • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
