Visit our website at Job Title: Luggage Designer Location:Onsite 5 days a week at our NYC HQ Position Overview We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Luggage Designer to develop innovative, trend-right designs for licensed brand luggage collections. This role will focus on creating products that balance style, function, and cost efficiency, specifically tailored for the off-price and department store markets. The ideal candidate combines a strong sense of design with technical knowledge of luggage construction, materials, and manufacturing processes. Key Responsibilities Design & Development • Create original designs and seasonal collections for licensed brand luggage, aligned with brand DNA and market trends., • Research trends, materials, colors, and finishes to develop compelling assortments for off-price and department store channels., • Build and present design concepts, sketches, CADs, and tech packs to cross-functional teams and licensors., • Collaborate with Product Development and Sourcing teams to select materials, hardware, and trims., • Review prototypes and samples, ensuring accuracy in design, construction, and brand standards., • Partner with factories to resolve technical challenges and improve product functionality and durability., • Work with Merchandising and Sales teams to align designs with retail strategies and account needs., • Incorporate buyer feedback from department and off-price retailers into design revisions., • Partner with Licensing teams to ensure all brand guidelines and approval processes are met. Qualifications • Bachelors degree in Industrial Design, Fashion Design, or related field., • 35 years of design experience in luggage, travel goods, accessories, or related categories., • Strong technical knowledge of luggage construction, materials (polycarbonate, ABS, polyester, nylon, etc.), wheels, handles, and hardware., • Proficiency in design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CAD programs)., • Experience working with overseas factories and product development teams., • Strong trend awareness with the ability to adapt luxury/lifestyle brand aesthetics to value-driven retail environments. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, internal equity, and location.
